Nanny injury?

Cut your losses and move on. No need to post a negative review that’s opening up another can of problem. I know a family who posted a negative review and treated nanny poorly while claiming they were innocent. Long story short after numerous calls, flat tires/vandalizing their vehicles, threats escalated to physical violence they were sorry they posted and actually moved away. Lesson learned you don’t know what/who you dealing with move on!

I kind of agree about the negative review. Maybe one of these posters who defended her so staunchly will get lucky and end up with her!

The doctor said she’s fine and does not have a concussion, but she’s not coming back to work with us because her husband said she’s ‘not allowed to’.
My guess is that the reason for all of the excuses over the last month is stress in her marriage. We’re going to save all of the details of this situation in case she tries to file any kind of claim against us in the future.
As a learning lesson for myself, I’m going to trust my gut and not engage or send money to anyone who’s not showing up and performing their duties. We didn’t have to pay her for last week or various days off last month. It’s an expensive lesson

Love how the husband orders the wife around. OP - she's been lining up a new job this entire time and using you in the process. Bad form

Well, people were acting like OP was a monster for not believing this woman. Believe me, this is not her first or her last scam. I'd love to see those who berated the OP end up with this scam artist on their hands.

And while I was out of work for the week following it, I was restricted. Even normal lamps gave me a terrible headache if too bright. Luckily, I have my own office and was able to work with my office lights off and my laptop screen dimmed. Even then, too much time on my laptop and I'd feel terrible. I also couldn't drive for a week after because of the dizzy spells that came and went. I even scumbled walking a few times.

Honestly, after going through one, I'd not want someone with a concussion caring for my kid.

Yikes did you feel better after a week? She’s taking the week off and I’m also off now for the next fee days. I know it’s possible she does have a concussion but I’m surprised she hasn’t just reached out directly to say so.

She has a concussion and needs peace and quiet. You are not in that category. Just from your posts, I can understand why she might very well be looking for a new job. Leave her alone

Do gullible fools like this PP ever come back to eat crow?

I was a believer of the nanny, but why would I eat crow? If I’m wrong then so be it.

The nanny story would have been fairly easy to confirm had OP asked her for medical documentation so she could run it through her Worker’s Comp.. There’s no need for all of the speculation.

She can now also report this to care.com or leave a very fact based review so that other people don’t get swindled like she did.

Oh please, OP was beyond accommodating of what was clearly a scam. She tried to treat this employee more than fair. Nanny was 100% unprofessional and in bad form.

I’m sure an episode of real housewives of somewhere will be on soon. Seek your drama there, OP.

Yikes! Yes I’m happy to just move on and not take any more risk. I think the issue was that her husband was giving her a hard time, that’s why she kept having emergencies to run out to. I don’t like she handled it but I’m glad it’s over and don’t have to keep dealing with the uncertainty of if she’ll show up each day

OP here I didn’t write that response. There was a lot of helpful feedback here

Not sure why you're getting blamed but of course this is DCUM. Your nanny sounds ridiculous and was taking advantage of you. She would've been fired for taking off every week for months. Not acceptable. Good luck.

Please post a review on care.com Nobody else needs to fall for her BS. The way she handled this is absurd. I know the DCUM apologists are going to jump on that, but there are other ways to quit or leave a job other than to jerk your employer around and try to milk them for a few weeks'pay.

I’m a PP who had a similar awful nanny experience. It’s hard - I see that our nanny is now on those sites w/ a different last name and since I had not hired her by the current profile, I can’t review.

You spent all this time and energy worrying about the nanny scamming you. You need to spend sometime teaching your daughter to dress herself.

That was my thought. And the nanny’s husband probably thinks the same thing and is telling her work somewhere else where you don’t have to dress an 8 year old. None of my kids would be willing to be dressed by someone else at 8 years old.
