+1 We as a society have removed the idea of death from normal life- no one wants to hear about it or think about it. It’s not like death is going to go away if we refuse to acknowledge it and accept it as a part of life. |
You do realize that executors don’t typically have the right to make decisions related to disposition. Most likely, the majority of your siblings control. They may agree with you, but executors often think they have more power than they actually do. |
I guess I’ll see. My parents explicitly said they don’t want ghoulish body-on-display funerals (my words), so I will do everything in my power to ensure those wishes are respected. I don’t anticipate anyone fighting that. [PP] |
I speak for only myself, obviously….. but, it’s not that dead bodies are disgusting. It’s that embalming, decorating, posing, and displaying a rotting (albeit slowly) corpse is grotesque. Look, I am a true crime junkie, and I have looked up more than my share of dead bodies….strictly for gratuitous curiosity. Still, there’s no way I want my loved one’s bodies to be put through that grotesque process. |
I hope you leave that up to your loved ones. You have a say over your own body. |
Yes, I’m the executor PP. My parents and I have the same beliefs. Everyone else can play dress up with corpse all they want. |
