Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
| Is there anywhere else in the country where this argument is still taking place like it’s 2020?! |
DP, but it's pretty staggering how many people, including teachers, dismiss the childcare function inherent in public education. I know they think it's some kind of own, but it really shows how much they look down on childcare providers. It's embarrassing. |
Was it insane?! Was it a disaster?! Is HBO picking up the MCPS miniseries you think? |
And you provide childcare. Thanks for continuing to act on that responsibility. |
+1 And on this board, I guess school doesn't count as childcare for those who are SAHPs and use the time to get things done or go places during the school day. It's only those evil working parents who need baby-sitting! Not sure why the people are so triggered by the fact that parents do rely on school not only for education, but to keep their kids in a supervised location for 6 hours a day. The horror! |
Pretty sure this is smpotatoes. Sounds just like his usual annoying, uneducated rhetoric. |
Not to mention the teachers who also have kids in school. |
Or, maybe you don't want the responsibility of your kids. That is the bigger issue. |
It's really not. Kids get dropped off, kids get taken care of. MCPS does a pretty good job of that. |
It’s embarrassing that you think teachers are merely babysitters. |
Kids are at school to gain an education, what are you not understanding about that? Do you not care about education? Seemingly not. |
+1. That’s the thinking of many parents unfortunately. |
| Philly requiring masks first 2 weeks. |
It depends on the child and school but some of us want education not child care. We can take responsibility for our own kids. |
So all ES classes should require that parents stay in the classroom for the entire school day so that the care aspect is taken care of The argument that an ES does not provide child care for its students, which are between the ages of roughly 5-11, is so asinine.
