Why is my old neighbor mowing his lawn almost every day. Do I have recourse to report him?

I see both sides.

Op I’m a nurse and I used to work nights. Had a neighbor who worked from home and was constantly playing loud music from about noon each day. I “casually” introduced myself and as we were chatting, I threw in the fact that I work nights. She stopped the noise.

You mentioned he’s unpleasant but if you don’t try talking to him, he may not know he’s bothering anyone.

I wish you were my neighbor. It would spark joy to drive you nuts. Right now I have construction going on. The banging starts as 7am and is non stop until 330pm. I also have outdoor speakers and DGAF and listen to my music. I sometimes smoke pot and the smell of skunk will come billowing into your yard. If you’re really lucky I have my friends over on the weekends and even I try to tell them to keep it down, but they won’t shut up.

Wait until mid summer when my pool/ half court sports court and addition are done.

If it truly bothers you -> talk to him about it.

Reporting him would be cruel + extreme.

Let's say you did want to report him. Who do you call? The EPA? The local lawncare union?

I’d start with Department of Interior and have them connect me to someone at BLM

PP here... no noon isn't too early for "normal" people who work a regular schedule. I never said that. But for someone sharing a wall with a person who sleeps from 8am to 3pm, it was annoying. I'm not just talking about music playing, you could hear the bass bumping through the wall.

He may be doing it for exercise.

OP noise cancelling headphones for you.

Unless its interfering with your work to the point where people other than you can hear it, like on zoom, which I highly doubt, you just need to suck it up.

And if they can hear it, you need to move to a room where they cant.

Honestly you should contact the police. And if he's older, maybe family services. Does he not remember that he cut the grass already? I would be worried

I'm working from home right now and my neighbor is mowing his yard. I can hear the muffled noise through my excellent windows panes. Should I call someone?

I mean, it's not particularly annoying and I'm not currently on a conference call and I usually use earphones with my conference calls anyway but it's....mowing.

Are there any rules on this, I understand once or twice a week but almost every day is excessive.

He is retired probably age 60+

Because he wants to and is breaking no county noise ordinance.

np He may have the right but, he isn't neighborly since he is annoying people. I get it op. My neighbor's dad is older and he enjoys mowing the lawn and you can't enjoy being outside AND he takes forever to get the job done. Not much I can do honestly but, go inside when he is out there.

Are you seriously suggesting people don't mow to make you happy? You see my middle finger?

Wow! There is a big difference between taking a few hours to mow one day out of the week and taking three or four days to do the exact same job! You give me the middle finger for saying something so mild makes me wonder how mentally unstable you are. Notice I never complained and never would say a word to him. I just go inside my house!

When you report him, he gonna mow it 3 times a day maybe 4.

He has no job? He mows all day. Mowing marathons. He leaving lawn mower running while he does the dental floss dance and eat a sandwich. Do it, I dare you lady!!!
