| I'm curious to see how the DCPS decision today impacts charters. Fingers crossed this gives them the cover to make changes. |
| I'm hoping Lee drops it in conjunction with DCPS. No reason not to. |
No reason from a pragmatic POV; but I do fear that the community poll will give them a reason to not adopt it. I also can see them leaning on the point they highlighted in the email about the large % of the school in primary. Will be pleasantly surprised if I am wrong, but trying not to get hopes up. |

KIPP and Friendship not making changes. |
Did Lee do a survey? Stokes sent out a community survey (first time they have asked parent community for feedback about anything). I’m sure it will come back in favor of continued masking and they will use the results as a reason not to follow science. It’s absurd that charters are following science when it’s convenient. Choice is just that - you can continue to mask if you want but stop making my vaccinated kid live in fear because you either didn’t vaccinate your kid or are scared. It’s time to move on for the rest of us. |
| The knots that any charter will have to twist itself into to continue masking will be super embarrassing. I’ll just feel sorry for any administration looking so foolish. |
Hahaha. You are too funny and obvi enjoy sounding foolish |
You're right. A charter school principal is probably smarter about this than the CDC and every other school leader in the country and the rest of the world. |
It'll all be a massive morality play with no grounding in science. Through in the word "equity" with some shaming. That's what charter leaders will do. |
| *throw not through |
Yep. This. +100 Praying we get out of our charter next year for private. |
Yup - we pray you ‘burb it, too. |
| Checking back in: have any charters adopted DCPS’s timeframe for lifting the mask mandate? |
Basis is going mask optional 3/21 |
Though BASIS is heavily encouraging masks. I hope they don’t shame the kids that don’t wear them. |
