Also Fairfax Stars boys. Any feedback? |
| My son played on Nova94 for 2 years, younger teams. It is a good organization, good communication. But like any other travel sport, the team is as good or bad as the coach. My son's coaches were okay for the age group but definitely showed favoritism to sons and friends (typical) resulting in more play time for them. I think one coach, actually sat kids sometimes out because of dislike for the parents, but I can imagine some parents created problems for their kids. It was a good experience for our son but when he was recruited by another coach, he wanted to move on. |
We have had friends kids' play for Fairfax Stars, 2 for girls and 1 for boys. Good experience for the kids but parents said the team travel and training was expensive because of the overnight trips and reimbursement to coaches. They did not complain about reimbursing coaches just the number of trips and everything added up and then they had travel expenses on top. |
| We have a friend (girl) who plays for Fairfax Stars--and loves it. She's heavily recruited by other teams but is sticking with them. |
There are multiple teams. If you are good enough they will make room for you. |
| They have two 11u and two 10u teams? |
| What’s a normal roster size for one of these younger AAU teams? |
Maybe so, but the attention span at that age is not great. |
It should be about 10-12. We've had a roster of 15 in the past (ES) and many sat the bench but also many were on other travel teams and couldn't make all games. |
| Anything more than 10 is a) a cash grab and b) better make sure your kid is one of the best 5. |
What grade level does she play at for fairfax stars? A younger or older team? |
Yeah |
Which one is the better team? The "Blue" team? |
No the Orange team. |
Agree. 15 kids is insane, even if they are playing for other teams. Only 5 play at once, and who wants to pay for AAU and drive all over BFE to watch their kid NOT play basketball? |
