I'm an FCC cool mom who lives in an older house that we won't renovate until we're done paying for daycare. I have a job so I don't get together with friends for lunch or coffee. Instead we occasionally have dinner or drinks at local places like Dominion, Clare & Dons, Dogwood, and Thompson. I use Trunk Club, Stitch Fix, and my Nordstrom stylist for clothes and accessories because I hate shopping. I work out at home. I get my hair done at Salon Sage, my friends go to Nash, Daniel, Hair Social, and the place by Aldi. I drive a Subaru because I wanted a safe car for the kids. My husband has a BMW.

God, I hope this is sarcasm. "Cool mom?" You have just described every basic UMC suburban mom anywhere in the country.

But based on the questions OP asked ("do you go to rare bird coffee or northside social?"), she clearly thinks I'm cool.

I’m not OP and I asked the questions. You, FCC mom, is not who I am interested in hearing about. I live on the Arlington side of the FCC border and I also drive a Subaru, get coffee at Rare Bird, shop at Nordstrom, eat at the same restaurants (swap Thompson for Lyon Hall), get my hair cut by a woman who was trained by Nash. Moms like me are a dime a dozen. That describes everyone I know.

I am curious about the women who live up by Gulf Branch nature center in the $2-3M homes and the women who go to the 10am yoga classes because they don’t work outside the home. I’m curious about the moms who ask on MONA about live-in nannies and house managers. What do those moms do all day? I will never know because a) I live south of Lee Hwy and 2) I have to work during the day.

Imo the absolute best use of excess funds is horses. They take up a lot of time, they are wonderful and fun, they are healthy, and you can spend literally any amount of money on them.

Also because you can always improve and do harder things, like a sport, but there are also endless related pursuits and challenges for every level of skill and athleticism, like an art form.

You can also accumulate more and more horses too.

Wear a sweatshirt from a fancy liberal arts college (Swarthmore, Amherst, Williams, Pomona, Carleton, Wesleyan, Oberlin, etc.). Major signifier

I love her stuff

Love her content. It's funny and solid at the same time. I know her Mom and she's the most down to earth, kind, caring human.

It's also abuse. So...rich moms abuse animals? Got it. Not surprised.

I don’t carry a bag and I drive an old car. Try again. Some with fancy cars just have a big loan.

My MIL lives in Great Falls. You need yellow blond hair and French manicures.

Admittedly I think you meant 30something moms, not 70something, but she's a northern Virginia mom nonetheless! Bonus points if you go on a rant about how you didn't love Trump, but "Biden's not so great either!"
