Somehow my middle school managed to teach us cursive and typing. |
Op is the tolliest of the trolls. What a stupid post.
No one is teaching crt to elementary school students idiot. Do you go to that weird church in Leesburg? |
+1 I see it with our kids in college. It is a delineator also when they are interviewing. We're talking 20 year olds who cannot right their names in cursive. Whoa. |
But can they spell? |
This is true though. The ability to read and write in cursive will be a class marker. |
somehow I (and virtually every other adult my age- 40s) knows how to type despite not learning it in school. How can this be? |
I was born in the late 80s and learned cursive in 3rd and typing in "computer class"...probably 4th and 5th grade or so... -- anyone else have Type to Learn? And those orange things that went over the keyboard to prevent us from peeking? LOL. Not sure why it has to be an either or. |
I agree that cursive is such a beneficial life skill to master. And because it is so easy for young teachers to poo poo it and dismiss it a "not necessary" (especially since they often never had the privilege of being taught it either), now a whole generation of kids is deprived of its benefits. |
Our 3rd grader’s APS teacher told us that they will be learning cursive this year. I wish every school taught it. In all seriousness, I’ve read that there are cognitive benefits to children learning cursive. |
write. Oops, my bad. |
Which school district are you in? Are you sure they aren’t teaching it? |
I truly don't understand why you won't teach your child cursive if you think it's so important? |
Sad, parents no longer take any responsibility. We taught our children both. |
To read the Constitution. |
They don’t need cursive. What a waste of instructional time. |
