Social Emotional Learning Questionnaire for 3-12 grade

Anonymous
For K-2 the teacher has to fill out some BS survey on their observations about each child in the winter and spring. Uh, no. A) I dont want my kids teacher wasting time filling this garbage out.

B) My child’s teacher is not a therapist, social worker, or counselor. Are they qualified to do this? I bet they make them take some crappy training to be able to do it.

What a waste.

What's so wrong with this questionnaire, helping children ask and talk about how they react when they get upset, how they feel about certain situations, etc. These are useful emotional development skills and insights.

1. Some of the questions could make a kid think something is wrong with them if they do not have a support system at the school. And, one person's view of "friends" may not be the same as another's.
2. A lot could depend on what happened at lunch the day the kid fills out the questionnaire.
3. Why did they throw in the race question?
4. Lots of kids would not answer honestly.
5. The drama queens could really go to town on this.

I would not want to fill this out for myself and have someone analyzing it.

I read that the SEL questions will occur 3x each year.

We don’t want to fill it out either, but you all said your kids are scarred from being out of school. So, here we are….

Why the race questions then? Seems a bit out of place if the concern is for their mental health after a year of distance learning.

I posted this question. This explanation is helpful and I see your point.

VDOE is mandating this to be trendy. You think parents caused this? Ha. This is about checking educrat boxes. FCPS is just using ESSR money on it because they can.

Honestly, my third grader isn't in tune enough with her emotions to be able to answer this survey!

Why are there racial justice questions in a mental health questionnaire? That's just weird and inappropriate.
