What happens if that high school kid decides she wants to be in her school's drama production which practices after school, or try out for a sports team, or any other club activity? |
She hooks you up with a friend of hers who is looking for a job. This can work out really well, if you tap into a network of responsible kids who can trade off with each other. We had a college sitter, then when she was busy we used her roommate as a sitter for awhile (on her recommendation), then the sister of the original sitter, then another friend of theirs...it worked. The thing about this is that it’s not a bad job for a student, but they aren’t necessarily looking for this kind of work or checking care.com. |
I think you can find someone qualified on Care.com
Offer $25/hour, so $375, guaranteed each week for the whole school year, whether or not you need the full 15 hours, school holidays, go on vacation, etc as long as she's available. I've done this each year with several after school nannies and haven't had issues with dependability |
You are under paying!!! |
I don't know... My kids are older; two are in college and two are in high school, so I've known a lot of high schools kids over the last several years. From what I remember, eery one of them had some type of activity/sport after school at least sometimes (varying days, varying seasons, etc.) In fact the most "responsible kids" were the ones most likely to be busy after school. If a 17 year old student really has nothing else to do after school every day for the whole school year, that's kind of a concern. |
$40/day for three hours of babysitting is a very low pay rate.
This is not even $15/Hr. |
