Unvaxed roommate?

I feel the same way. My kid is COVID-vaxxed, so nearly 100% safe from serious COVID. Even though he got this vaccine, I was more concerned with him having the full set of meningitis vaccinations before heading to college.

Catching COVID is probably #51 on my list of college worries for him.

I would want my unvaxxed kid with another unvaxxed kid. I would think they would get along better and see eye to eye on other issues.

Do you know measles vaccination status of your child's roommate or chicken pox? [personally - I think this is something that you should be able to ask about]

I do think this brings a different level to conversations about personal health info.

What is the risk to your child? How is it different knowing this information?

How is measles or chickenpox analogous to covid 19? I don't know single person dead or permanently maimed from measles or chickenpox but i know of many families personally that have suffered greatly from covid 19.

I know two now elderly family members permanently disabled because of the measles, one lost her hearing, and the other suffered brain damage.

I think that if measles were surging, it would be important to know if your roommate were vaccinated for measles.

Absolutely. Measles is even more contagious than covid.

But if the roommate is Vaxed from COVID 19 - why does it matter? The % of breakthrough cases are really small.

^^ the breakthrough cases are not all being reported

Why is kid not vaxxed? they fear the vax and respect the poor science behind the groups spreading vax disinformation. Why is a kid vaxxed? They respect the vaccine science and the public health science. Not a good roommate match. Like putting a smoker with a non smoker or a late night loud music lover with a quiet morning person. there is reason they t to match up certain kids to room together.

Vaccinated college students are protected from severe symptoms. Even without the vaccine, their age alone is very protective. I would not be concerned at all about your child having an unvaxed roommate.

Can you try to keep up with science please. It is really not our job to educate you

Anonymous wrote:Yes. Just last week I asked my child to ask the roommate if vaxxed. Roommate coming from China. he is vaxxed with WHO approved vax. Weird that we did not think to ask until now. And yes, I hope the college has plans to put unvaxxed together.

The chinese vaccine is not very effective.

Vaccines work very well, but young adults may contact Covid, but they are most likely asymptomatic or like the common cold.
People need to turn off CNN.

Seriously.

I would rather have my unvaxxed with unvaxxed and presumably, vaxxed roomies would also be more comfortable together.
