This. It’s a cold. Just a cold. |
Of course it’s a cold, idiot! That’s not in question. And pre-covid times this would not have been a big deal. But it is now. Every child your kid gave her cold to must be covid tested as well as the parents. Preschool will not let kids back unless they have no symptoms. Daycares will insist on a test at least. Parents will have to miss work. It’s a big deal now. Yes, you absolutely keep your sick child away from other kids now. This nanny was dead wrong. |
Eh, I don’t think we’re helping our kids by barricading them from normal germ exposure. Yes there is extra hassle of covid testing but that’s life. |
In June and July, perhaps. Not now when cases are rising exponentially in our area and K-12 is on the verge of returning to school - you'll create MAJOR hassle for working parents juggling it all and WE WILL ALL HATE YOU. |
If you’ve been reading this forum some of these posters would happily keep their kids locked up for their entire childhoods and expect others to do likewise. ![]() |
Colds are not contagious? |
It's just cold and they were outside, not inside. I grew up in north when kids have runny noses from October until April. Nobody stays inside because of that. I'm sure you nanny had left the playground had it gotten really bad for your daughter- coughing and nose constantly running.
I get sick from AC at home. Definitely can't have it on when I have a cold. The minute I'm outside with hot weather, my nose feel good. I'm so glad they were outside and expect kids to be germ factories most of the time, runny nose or not. |
What? Since when are colds "not contagious?" |
+1 I wouldn’t care at all |
-1. I would care a great deal. |
Is a cold even contagious outside? |
Eh, I think we are helping our kids by barricading them from germ exposure now. Covid testing is more than just an “extra hassle”. It’s unpleasant if not painful and scary to little kids and they have to stay out of daycare/school until the results are back as well as the parents missing work. There are lots of outdoor things you can do with a toddler that doesn’t involve being around other kids for a couple days (I know. We did it just two weeks ago when our toddler had a cold). Please stop being so selfish. We’re all trying to get through this as best we can. |
YES!!! Look it up. |
Did you grow up during a pandemic? How many times does it have to be explained to you that it’s not the cold - it’s the fear that the cold symptoms are covid as well as in the interim testing and quarantine until the test results come back. And have you had a covid test? It hurts like hell! |
Look at some of responses from inconsiderate nannies and parents. Your nanny isn’t alone in using poor judgement. Just tell her that a cold is a big deal during covid and your child is not to go near any other kids when she’s got a cold. |
