Can’t stomach spending 50K on a minivan

I’m seeing 2020 siennas for upper 30s. Saving $10k to buy a one year older vehicle seems like a good option to me.

I bought a loaded Toyota Sienna minivan in 2010 and am still driving it. It has been a great vehicle for us although we were minivan resistant. I just got new tires, brakes, etc and plan to drive it for another five more years.

Thanks everyone! This makes me feel better. We’re going to check out the Pacifica tonight, but I’d that doesn’t work out we’ll splurge for the sienna. It’s hard bc our neighbors got the same sienna from the same dealer in March and got 4500 off. But they had several on the lot back then.

OP here, I don’t think what we wanted was super fancy- just captains seats and the floor mats. But I was planning on getting the extended warranty.

OP here, the base price for the XLE was 43, but after taxes and warranty and mats, it was 49k.

We got a good price on our Sienna from DarCars in Maryland. Two emails and we agreed on an all in price.

You don’t need the extended warranty, and the dealer will throw in the floor mats for free on a new car if you negotiate for it.

I bought a 2019 Dodge van in December 2020. Paid $18,000 for it. (I posted about it on here at the time). Now, the same make and model and year vehicle costs a couple thousand more even though it is close to a year later.
I think car prices have jumped up this year, due to shortages of both new and used vehicles.

Skip the extended warranty. It's useless. The warranties never cover the problems your car actually has.
How much of the 49k is the extended warranty?;

People saying just buy a used 2 year old minivan are clueless about the auto market conditions. The only 2 year old used minivans come from rental agencies in a normal, non-pandemic market. Rental companies do not have inventory this year, and no family purchases a minivan for only 2 years, but drives a family minivan for over a decade.
