Mask Recommendations

He urged me to ditch cloth masks, and use N95 masks instead. I bought 3-ply cloth masks for DD earlier on, but now, we are switching to disposable KN95 masks I found on Vida.com. I also bought the individually packed KN95 masks from GreenSupply for DD to bring to school to change. Theses KN95 masks are running out quickly.

Sorry, it's shopvida.com, not Vida.com

Some of us are not made of money.

PP is not forcing you to buy. It's your choice at the end of the day. Some high-risk kids may appreciate it.

If you're looking for excellent quality kids' masks that have fun patterns, I totally recommend this shop on etsy. I bought several, some for me, some for my son. He wears them all day in school without complaint. Best thing is, the sewing is really professional and perfect. The seller will even source specialty fabrics on request. We love our Ghostbusters mask!

Thanks PP. How many times can they be reused? Or is it only a one time thing as it would be worn in school all day?

This is PP - I think KN95 masks are meant to be disposable. Vida claims we can reuse them 2-3 times if not worn for long, but for peace of mind, I would discard them after a whole day at school.

I like Happy Mask but let’s be real it’s not a respirator, and it must be hand washed and is quite pricey. Web just get cotton masks and toss in washing machine. They are only protected by other peoples flimsy masks unless we get a respirator for them and they were it correctly and constantly while in class.

I know of NO kid size certified KN95 or N95; anything saying it is KN95 kid size, it is not a certified mask because there is nonstandard.

Kid size KN94 are a thing and they are great but hard to find.

The kid 95 and kn95 masks are unbelievably hard to breathe in. Kids will start passing out if they are forced into those all day. Wear one yourself for eight hours straight while running, jumping, moving the way kids do.

I find that Vida (that PP mentioned above) is being very deceptive in its marketing. Their factory is registered with the FDA. That does NOT mean that their masks are approved by the FDA or NIOSH. Big difference.

NIOSH doesn't rate kid size masks. The FDA has a list of registered/approved masks though.

My kids wear them to school. My kids wears his to indoor baseball coaching (an hour of pretty intense exercise). He has not passed out yet (been regular wear since March). Guess he is tough.

Some people in Arlington have completely lost their minds. Unvaccinated under 12 is at less COVID risk than a 40 year old vaccinated. Riding in a car is more dangerous to them.

"He has not passed out yet" from intense exercise in a KN95 - that has to be more dangerous to him than COVID.

I wonder if this is the nutter who told NBC News in a TV interview that she sends her kid to school with CO2 Monitor on him too.

My kids use the Target masks, $4 for a two-pack. They've lost a few but not as many as I would've thought.

We use Happy Masks, and yes they are expensive and a small pain to wash. But they have a terrific fit, don't get wet and my kid is comfortable wearing them all day. It's well worth it for us. I am not looking to send my child in a respirator style mask. I mainly wanted one that fit well (all around her mouth so she is breathing THROUGH the mask) and doesn't fog up when she wears her glasses. These fit the bill for us perfectly.

I have many other cloth style masks that we've purchased over the last year plus and Happy Masks are by far the best. We still use the Old Navy or cloth ones for shorter outings etc, but when she has to wear one all day, I send a HM.
