Bathing suits appropriate for the community pool 2.0

Lots of responses about how it was too skimpy etc etc. I thought of it yesterday when I was at my neighborhood pool and two younger ladies were both wearing bottoms so cheeky they may as well have been thongs. Guess what?? No one cared!!! No one even gave them a look. Everyone is too busy enjoying themselves to worry about what other people are wearing. This year I have seen ladies having fun in all sorts of styles: the oft maligned lands end one pieces, rash guards, bikinis, etc etc. enjoy the beach and the pool this summer and wear what you like!

They do care, they just don't say anything because they know they'll be slammed. I think we were at the same neighborhood pool last night and we were all kind of horrified by the girls in thongs with their butts completely uncovered.

Yes, it's your right to wear what you want, but if you're going to a community pool, as opposed to your backyard or friend's pool, why not show a little respect for yourself and your neighbors? You don't actually have to cover a lot of your anatomy at the pool, keeping something over your butt isn't really that much to expect when you're socializing in a public place.

Right after the first thread I was at my pool on opening day and 2 women were wearing thongs. I had never seen that before at my pool but laughed to myself thinking of the thread with the slightly cheeky bottom.

People in the DC area are so weird and uptight.

I think you’d be happier in Gilead.

Horrified by a smallish bikini. Jesus, lady.

This is a pointless thread. The general consensus on the last thread was that everyone should wear what they want. Some people were being unkind to the people who chose to cover up, calling them dowdy grandmas and such.

I missed the last thread, but think of the teenage boys, people! Poor kids just learning how to regulate their anatomy and then two ripe peaches walks by? What's the outcome here?

Of course what I want is a swim skirt and tankini top, bit I'm ok with butt cheeks on other people!

I'm not if they sit in those communal pool chairs!

I think you're confusing butt cheeks with butt holes

Hahahaha perfect

They can’t even use words like “body.” They say weird stuff like “cover your anatomy.” Lmao

The teenage boys at my pool are dunking the pool ball in the basketball hoop and desperately trying to impress the unfazed lifeguard girls. They don’t care about moms in swimsuits

If you are wearing them around colleagues, or meeting your significant other's family for the first time, you might want to opt for fuller coverage. My cousin brought his 22 year old girlfriend to meet the whole family over the July 4th holiday and we all saw 80% of her butt. It was so uncomfortable. She looked good, don't get me wrong, but it was just so inappropriate and trashy.

Jealous much?

I’m certain you weren’t at the same pool. I was at a couple neighborhood beaches in Southern California last week and nearly all the teens were wearing these. When I was there a couple years ago it was less ubiquitous. It’s the current style, yet the suit of the previous thread was far more conservative.

Horrified PP here, I wasn't part of the original thread, so I don't know what the visual you're referencing is. And I don't know the OP or where you were on Sunday, so perhaps it's just a coincidence that there were a couple of girls wearing thong bathing suits at our neighborhood pool (close in MoCo) the other day.

The Gilead crack is stupid - I'd be equally horrified if there were men wearing thong bathing suits at a community pool. But somehow no one insists that it's a sign of an evolved society for men to walk around with their butts hanging out.
