Masks at drop off... why?

They just do it to annoy you, no other reason./s

I agree that it's probably dumb but it's perfectly natural for schools to err on the side of caution with something so easy and harmless. Just do it.

Fixed it for you. You don't walk in another person's shoes. Masks hurt no one. Shut up.

Huh? The question is why parents are required to wear masks, not why some choose to wear them. You are in the wrong thread.

It makes perfect sense to ask for parents to wear masks when the children and staff are masked. Better than having a bunch of kids whining about why they have to wear masks if the parents don't. Having that rule and strictly enforcing it are two different things. I highly doubt the random staff person running the drop off line is going to spend the time to do more than remind parents once or twice. What are they going to do, kick the parent out of line and refuse to let the kid in school? Not hardly...

My kids have not once asked me why they have to wear a mask and I don't (when I'm not wearing one). Even if they did, the answer would be, I got a shot, and you haven't gotten one yet.

I’m over schools “erring on the side of caution” because there’s no limiting principal to that now. I see parents without masks at pickup and I would join them if I wasn’t chicken about being seen as “not caring about safety.”

Didn’t even realize this is a rule and haven’t been doing it. Wont start now that I know

Lol, same. Not doing it.

To answer your question, check with your daycare to see if licensing still requires it. Licensing has not caught up with CDC or state requirements. Your daycare might still make it a requirement of their business.

I have forgotten to wear a mask several times and have seen other adults forget to wear masks. I haven't seen the school turn away any parent dropping their kid off without a mask or picking them up without a mask. What are they going to do, withhold your child from you?

Outdoor masking has never really made sense, unless you have prolonged close-up interaction.

They just specifically hate you OP, and want to make you miserable when you see them. /S

Because it's obvious that the whole "only vaccinated people can blah blah blah" is pointless? Plus it doesn't hurt to model it for the kids who still have to wear them. It's all of what, 10 minutes?

Of course there's no penalty for forgetting to wear one. They're probably well aware that this is more of a request than a rule that can actually be enforced in any meaningful way.

+1. Mine knows that vaccinated folks can ditch the masks. I won’t have an argument when it is time for DD to get her shot.

+1 People are still dying of COVID. Under 12s aren't eligible for vaccination. Just wear the damn mask and stop whining OP. It's the least you can do as a functional member of society.

It’s not for much longer. Whine of you still have to in the fall?

Glad that works for your kids. Other children really benefit from having parents, teachers, and other adults model proper masking and social distancing.
