Barca is mostly Spanish players, US v Spain hasn’t gone well for Spain. Chelsea is more international, but who knows

Friendly reminder US has to beat Spain with two gifts in the form of pk last World Cup.

Friendly reminder that Spain’s WNT has won nothing. Ever.

It is nice though to see they are getting more competitive and may be able to crack into the top 5 best teams in Western Europe.

we are not talking about Spain’s NT. The best professional club soccer teams will always beat the best national teams men and women. Barca, Chelsea, Byron Munich or PSG women’s would easily beat USWNT. The USWNT is just not at the same level as these clubs. If you know anything about soccer you would understand why this is true.

Barca men would beat Spain NT
Chelsea men would beat England NT
Etc
Barca women should beat USWNT
U16 men club team has beat USWNT

their best players left, the season isn't overlapping with youth soccer as much and it's a sport that absolutely needs to either vastly increase production values or allow fans in person. It was nice to have DD play a game in MoCo or Howard and then catch a spirit game in the evening

No Barca has has about 6 international players who are world class including Kheira Hamraoui. Barca played and beat man city with USWNT players - Rose Lavelle, Sam Mewis and Abby Dahlkempe(a two game round). That is the core of the USWNT. Even with those three man city could not beat Chelsea. Tobin Heath and Christen Press played for Man United this year and have been okay but not dominate.

Everyone loves to jump on the USWTN’s wagon and cheer USA! You can google and watch these teams play with and against the best US women players and see for yourself how they stack up. It’s not even a debate the US would lose.

US Women play a very direct style. It works when they play international football, but not as much in European club football. It's not really a fair comparison though. I bet Man City (men) could beat any international men's football team 4 out of 5 times they played each other. Not only do they have world class players, but they play and practice with each other on a daily basis for months at a time. National teams get together for a couple weeks here and there. You cannot build enough chemistry in that short amount of time.

You are soooo smart!

They can’t win anything when they aren’t around. Friendly reminder the rest of the world didn’t really promote, endorse, foment and push for women soccer until a few years ago… USA women soccer has been around for 3-4 decades.

If you have any brain cells you’ll understand the progress Spain, France, Germany, Holland and any other European nation for that Matter, have made in just about 10 years demonstrates the USWNT will become a follower and not a leader in just about the next major trophy.

It’s hard to accept. But that’s life. Some people do it better.

the thing is, youth soccer here is pay to play and parents are just as willing to pay for girls and boys. College soccer subsidizes women more than men to help offset football thanks to title IX. European women are subsidized by clubs who may or may not choose to indefinitely spend money with no hope of profit or return

Why is the bolded so important to you? Failure of a team you don't play for seems like a weird thing to be emotionally invested in.

Whether or not the USWNT will ever be a follower or not, all US parents can only dream that their DD can play or even practice with the USWNT. They have a much higher chance of winning the Mega Million lottery than to have their DD play for the USWNT.

Of course top club teams should beat Nat teams

Man City’s 1st Team forwards today
Starters:
Ferran Torres Spain (hat trick v Germany last fall)
Gabriel Jesus Brazil
Backups:
Sergio Aguero Argentina
Raheem Sterling England

Not even mentioning the midfielders and defenders

100% right. National team (for any country) player pool is much smaller than top club teams.

They are playing a really interesting form of soccer right now, have some great players, if you choose not to attend it is your loss

Segra is real close to me, but now that my kid isn’t 11 anymore and would rather play soccer or hang with friends than watch a NWSL game, yeah the flame is flickering a bit. I’d still rather watch nwsl than MLS however. At least for the gender nwsl is a lot closer to best in the world than MLS. MLS is like watching AAA baseball. Close, but not “the show”.

10 years? Are we living in the 1990’s?

Germany WNT team has been around since 1982. (2003 and 2007 World Cup champions)
France WNT has been around since 1971.
Netherlands WNT has been around since 1971.
Spain WNT has been around since 1983.
USWNT has been around since 1985.
