Would you travel to Europe this summer with unvaccinated kids to see family?

I absolutely would.

I have a different risk preference than you, but I love you for acknowledging the italicized.

Yes, in fact I am going.
Anonymous
Yup.
Go.

Definitely. I wish I were going to Europe this summer.

We are going. Grandparents don't have a visa to come to USA, and it's been 2 years since we have seen them.

Everyone in the plane wears masks and has to have a negative test result to board. it’s pretty safe in my opinion

The kids would not be vaccinated. They are still carriers and could pose a risk to their other non-vaccinated relatives/kids.

Kids transmit the virus at about half the rate that adults do. With testing and quarantine, how are they posing a major risk?

That is not true. They transmit just as frequently as adults.

No, I would not.

No they are half as infectious. Where did you hear that?

Anonymous wrote:No. I get that COVID is low risk for kids, but it looks like there will also be a vaccine available by fall/winter. I don't think it's worth the risk either for your kid or whoever your kid could bring it back to when a vaccine right around the corner.

Hmm, I am not comfortable with vaccinating my kids right away. Only 1100 kids have had the vaccine and they are being given the adult dose. There are ample appointments and this vaccine will roll out rapidly, quickly vaccinating millions of kids. Millions of US kids have had Covid and under 300 have died. With cases continually dropping due to vaccination and prior infection, I am going to wait this one out. I am fully vaccinated myself. I would take the kids.

All adults will be vaccinated... kids won’t be exposed much (since all adults will be vaccinated) and even if they are, they won’t get very sick

I would do it in a heartbeat, especially to the UK where they have high vaccination rates. Kids are at very very minimal risk from Covid, and I imagine the majority of the people on the flights will be vaccinated.

I have family in England I haven’t seen in a couple years too. I want to go with my 8yo. I was thinking if there is no mandatory quarantine I might go. I do t want to quarantine there tho and then quarantine when I get back.
