Status of Teachers

I would love to know what school you are at where no teachers are in the building. Almost every single teacher at my child’s WOTP school is back in the building Term 3.

West of the park is in a bubble. At our elem EoTP, there is one class of PK 3/4, K, CAREs in 1st, grade, 1 CARES class for 4th and 5th. Out of 460 students only 75 are in person. Mainly due to lack of teachers "willing" to come back-which is why its all CARES in 3,4 5th grades. We do have space to expand. A lot of space actually. Just no teachers.

But it still seems like too many teachers are still just opting to stay home. When the school can only provide a CARES class for 3,4,5th grade something is way off. Those cohorts need to have an actual teacher in person.

God help us if the Mayor loses control of the school. Bowser has screwed up a bunch but imagine how much worse this would be with a school board conspiring with the WTU. DCPS would be the last district in the country to reopen!

Settle down ward 3 defender. Across the city, most MS and HS kids are barely getting even 8 hours a week of in person learning. Why do you think juvenile crime is spiking 200% over previous years. They need to be IN SCHOOL. And too many teachers are still opting out.

The teachers that I know where able to get vaccinated in February in between posting videos of themselves at hookah bars and other parties on Snapchat and IG.

This is pathetic. You make all teachers look bad. I am a full time teacher and I was able to find my own spot. Woke up at 6 am to do it. Really not a big deal. Now I am fully vaccinated and ready to go back for term 4. It is the right thing to do

You go t a spot because DCPS helped you. There were designated sites for teachers. Term 4 is different and everyone is on their own. Nice try though.

all teachers have been eligible since early february. if they haven’t managed to get vaccinated, it’s because they chose not to.
