One school and one school alone stands above the rest: Arizona State. |
Wow PP so clever, yet so much disposable time to waste making fake lists on DCUM. |
| Michigan must be a hot school. It seems there are many threads devoted to it here. |
Well, I wouldn't be on DCUM if I ever could become a thinking adult. |
| Where is Mr. Roll Tide?! |
| All in red states. Interesting |
My dorms did not have AC back in the 90's. |
| Tulane is frequently referenced as a “hot” School. I would caution not to confuse “hot” with “popular.” Applications are up a barely perceptible 2% this year offer last for Tulane. This contrast starkly with schools like NYU (up 100+%) and Tufts (up 30+%). Percentage increases in applications year over year is how I would define “hot.” |
red hot |
NYU was up 20%. They received 100k applications. |
+1. NYU received 100k applications for 6500 freshman spots (15x) and Tufts received 34k applications for 3100 spots (11x), while Tulane received 45k applications for only 1800 spots (25x). Seems as though Tulane is holding steady as being hot. |

Tulane engages in practices intended to drive up applications, like sending out targeted marketing, not requiring essays, no fee, etc.

| NYU continues to be hot. So does UVA. Northwestern, Duke, and Brown, from what I hear as well. |
Tufts has about 1600 spots, 34k/1600 = 21x |

Might be worth mentioning that Tulane, perhaps more than other schools, has made applying cheap and easy: no application fee and only 1 required supplemental essay about an extracurricular activity. The Why Tulane essay is optional.
Also some grumbling in the student newspaper about its efforts to boost the number of applications https://tulanehullabaloo.com/51322/news/tulane-selectivity/ |
