What worked best for you: safety rails on toddler bed

It's hard to say without seeing the bed frame, but I'd bet the short rails are enough. My kids were all over the place too, but they stayed in their toddler beds.

Toddler beds are low to the ground. Honestly, let them fall out of bed if the rails don't do the trick. They likely won't get hurt, and it's how they'll learn to stay on the bed.

You can't prevent every fall. You have to let kids learn.

My kid is 4 and he's still falling out of his toddler bed all the time. He was in a mini-crib before moving to a floor bed, so when we put him in the toddler bed at age 2, we just moved the mini crib mattress next to his bed (we have wood floors). We know he falls out, because we find the mini mattress moved out of position and frequently his blanket on the floor, but he crawls back into bed without waking us, so....

Occasionally we do find him on the mini mattress in the morning, but he seems unfazed by it.

We tried the pool noodle, and it didn't work. He just rolled right over it, apparently.

Chiming in to say (mostly because OP seems unwilling to consider alternate perspectives): I agree with this.

I saw someone on instagram recommend using a pool noodle under the fitted sheet.

On the other hand my parents tried all sorts of rails and I fell out all the time. Turns out I started sleepwalking at an early age. Never got hurt though.

It’s ok if they fall a few times. Put some pillows around beds at first jic but the rails will be enough.

x1000. OP’s kid is 3. They will be fine.

Toddler beds usr crib mattress size mattress. If you put a pool noodle under the fitted sheet you limit extremely the sleeping area on the mattress. I would not do that on a toddler bed, because it already has half rails and it’s extremely low to the ground in the first place.

OP, just use the half rails and do not add anything else. Even if your child is an all over the bed sleeper, there’s a little chance of falling out of the toddler bed because the area to get out of the bed is so small. Plus, if you’re that worried put another little mattress or a gym mat or some thing next to the bed.
