S/O Spelling for Katherine

Anonymous
Catherine is presumably the "right" way, although mine is spelled Kathryn.
People almost never spell it right. Kath-Ryn. That's it. Not an extra "e" or an extra "i".
It bugs me but technically, mine is a made up spelling.
Don't ask me to source that.
Just for God's sake, don't name your baby Kaitlyn. All Kathryn's hate that name.

The "y" versions look dated. The "ar" versions look spelled wrong. And I prefer Katie to Cathy.

I prefer Kate or Wren/Rine to either.

I don't like K names in general, the C is more traditional.

+1

In English, the letters K and Y can be a bit “takkyy”. There’re plenty of exceptions, and Katherine is ok, but I still think that C looks... cleaner.

Kathryn for the win.

Catherine. If it’s good enough for the future queen of England it’s good enough for me.

I'm a Kathryn and I don't love the y.

I like Catherine. And you can still use the nickname Kate, if you like. The Duchess of Cambridge does it, and no one calls her out on it.

It's interesting that her name is Catherine (which I heard she prefers and goes by in her real life) and her nickname is Kate.

And why? Thank you.

Katherine. I hate the C. Someone in our family spells it with a C and she is terrible. I don't like Kath AR ine or Cath AR ine or any or the other spellings.

Katherine with a K is so much more alluring than Catherine with a C. A C always looks so smug.

1980s are calling. Y's are out.

I like Catherine and Katharine equally, and prefer both to Catharine or Katherine.
