shhhhh - stop making sense. MCPS board, staff, and teachers do not like sense. |
I teach elementary also and agree. Teachers can plan to go in on Wednesdays, hopefully admins will reduce the number of Wednesday meetings during the transition time. We can set up between live sessions with kids and admin required meetings. And this post is correct, rooms are not going to be what they once were. I do think we’ll need time to figure out what we will need and how to set that up. I can’t see spending 4 solid days on it though. There will need to be some training involved as well. |
Hogan sends another F U to the people of MoCo. Don’t think he cares about your kids. He just waves to stick it to MCPS. Your kids are collateral damage. |
Remember when MCPS was the only district in the entire state to not make up snow days in the later Winter/Spring during that big snow/freeze like 5 years ago? And then were livid the state exempting others from a few extra days (after making up 1-2) and told MCPS to stuff and do better next time? And the MCPS board tried to email parents to contact the state to complain instead of changing a few days off in the Spring to appease the state. And the state still said, sorry you never tried. No exempts. That was when this Dem became a Hogan supporter. |
+1 No other school district asks for ask much as MCPS does. |
I know y’all thought it was about bulletin boards, but it was to practice keeping children safe.
From the article: The time also would have allowed the staff to “practice compliance with protocols, finalize student schedules and transportation, and address the myriad of other details that will have to be finalized,” Smith wrote. The preparations are especially important, Smith wrote, because the first students scheduled to return to buildings are generally the youngest — “some of whom have never navigated a school building before” — and students who need significant support from employees. “The waiver of four days will allow staff to complete this important work without requiring divided attention from virtual instruction and support for students,” Smith wrote. “This waiver of four school days is critical to success for opening school buildings.” |
Okay OP. No one is jumping on this hate you trying to throw out to make this thread even. ![]() |
Actually MCPS is saying FU and not caring about the kids My kids have only had school for 3 days last and 3 days this week. Which means the one day with 4 classes only once a week. That is already ridiculous. And now MCPS wants to take another 4 days away from them - and wanted them to NOT be made-up. If you want the days off you CAN take it MCPS. You just have to make it up at the end of the year, which they should. And that is what MCPS does not want to have to do. The kids are far enough behind as it is. DO BETTER MCPS!!! |
This!!! |
My kids go to Wednesday checking pretty regularly. Its amazing how many of you are doing nothing to tale advantage of whats been given.
4 days is politics. You ask for 4, you get 2. |
Dear MCPS,
Make that whole week pre-canned socioemotional lessons that just have videos and the kids click to answer. Their parents will opt them out for the week and teachers can do what needs to be done. |
You want to cancel MLK day? |
Contractually, MCPS teachers are not paid for spring/winter break. |
+1 |
Not the PP, but pretty sure he/she was saying why are the Wed still off when they are off for MLK and a teacher's day. But gotta love you trying to spin it that the PP hates MLK or something. ![]() |
