Only Sabine is outside the top 1000. Valentina is top 100!

So annoying.

Ha! I know two toddler Sabines.

My niece is Evangeline and I know two Theodoras (a toddler and a 7-8 year old).

It's interesting because I think think this is so location dependent. Obviously you're going to find a lot more Sabines in DC/NY than other parts of the country. So the numbers are skewed.

There’s an objective national list.

Well the top 1000 number is not skewed as its based on national SSN data.

I also know from experience that sometimes trends start local and then spread. We named our DD a name outside the top 1000 eight years ago, but it was on the rise in DC and we've met several girls with her name in schools. I just checked the SSN list and it's now in the 200-300 range. I think there might even be some top 100 names that were outside the top 1000 not that long ago (as all these old lady names have come back into fashion). It's cyclical.

Most of these names are top 500.

But names outside the top 1000 that are familiar and not terribly dated include:

Joan (I think this is underrated. Joanna is #254 so a decent alternative)
Erica
Anita
Lara
Constance
Monica
Courtney
Marisa
Gina
Teresa
Cara (personal favorite)
Anne (shocker! although Anna is #63)

I couldn't find any decent ones for men, unless you're interested in Stanley, Harold, Abner, Alfred, Gary, etc.

Raymond is in the 300s and I always liked that one. I've feel like people named Ray are always jolly. Like Martin/Marty.

for names that are more nationality-oriented, there's:

Cillian
Dario
Karim
Anton
Dermot
Anders
Emile
Ahmed
Mariano

Vera (sounds old-fashioned to American ears, but very common in Croatia, Slovenia, etc)
Dara (Eastern European women, Irish men but also Darragh)
Ilona
Siobhan
Rashida
Milena
Karina
Domenica
Natasha
Zora
Sanaa
Daniela
Katarina
Renata
Agata (this seems bad-ass)
Beatrice
Gaia

To OP, why not just post a link for names outside of the top 1000 or copy/paste a bunch of those names on here.

Thinking of names, then going to search if they're not in the top 1000, then coming back here to post is quite time consuming and most of us will just start throwing out names we like regardless of whether they fit your not top 1000 criteria.

Also include if you are looking for boy or girl names.

I mean a name could be 1500 nationally but top 500 in DC, so the pure top 1000 list isn't really representative because it's national.

Not in Germany! Half of my friends are named Sabine. Funny.
