What’s your favorite “not top 1000” name(s)?

Most of the names I like are very common. However, when I was a girl, I read a book with a character named Linnet. I always thought that was a pretty name, and I haven’t seen it anywhere else.

My friend’s daughter had this name. She was kidnapped at age 2 and found 16 years later.

That is because it's traditionally spelled Catherine, and sometimes Katherine.

+1 I’ve never seen a Katharine other than Hepburn, and as the granddaughter of a Catharine and the sister of a Catherine who was named for her with the changed spelling because our last name was already hard to spell/pronounce and my parents didn’t want to pile on, I notice.

I think I read the same book! I love the name. A linnet is a songbird.

I also like Arliss, which is a flower, and Linnaea, after Linnaeus.

I realized I left a name off my list earlier in this thread - Renee. Really not sure why that one fell out of favor.

Heather is in the family Erica, if you're talking about plants. I've always thought that was interesting, too! I like both names.

None of these names are outside the top 1000. Not even close.

None of those things are helpful. Just FYI.

I don't want to share my daughter's name because there are so few people with her name that it would be too easy to identify her. It was last in the top-1000 over 100 years ago.

This is my first post in this thread, so I am not one who has been "bragging" about finding an unusual name.

So what if someone you know sees this and realizes you posted your daughter’s name here. Really, who cares?

This thread is disappointing. Nearly ALL of these names are in the top 1,000 (or it’s an atrocious misspelling of a top 1000 name.)

Sian

It is technically a female name but I know a guy with the name and it works. I kinda wish I would have named my daughter this.
