I'm sure that no one wants to hear this, but if the choice is between living and dying, shouldn't we be recommending that families with extensive public exposure, especially multi-generational households, have everyone wear masks inside the home as much as possible?

"We" who, and what makes you think that the people who are already disproportionately affected by covid (in terms of both health and money) aren't already doing this?

Leaders. I'm not sure if people are doing it or not. I'm not in their homes, so I have no idea. However, I haven't see that recommendation from public health officials. Have you? I

Our family has done this a few times, once when one of the kids was sick and another time when someone we were around but who was not a close contact tested positive. It sucks and felt like an overreaction, but . . .

New restriction for 4 week (at least) to see if actions help preserve hospital capacity. These take effect NEXT Wednesday at 5 p.m. to allow stakeholder input and to allow restaurant owners to use the food they have in stock.

1) Restaurants and bars - Contact tracing shows that virus is being spread here at higher rates than other business activities. CDC also said that people over 65 and those with health conditions should not enter any public place where people aren't masked. AA County will move from 25% capacity to takeout only.
Will start Takeout Anne Arundel marketing campaign to encourage takeout. Some assistance will be provided for workers. Will also bring bill to county council to restrict fees that delivery services can charge to restaurants.

2) Retail - moved to 25% fire code capacity. County Exec. does not believe that this will have major impact on sales.

3) Fitness centers - remain open 25% capacity and every needs to wear masks. If you can't wear masks, exercise at home. Classes suspended.

4) Casinos - Live Casino - move from 50% capacity to 25% capacity with no food service.

5) Salons, barbers, personal service - 25% capacity

6) Religious facilities - one-third capacity restriction - religious institutions said it should not be a problem - can have larger outdoor gatherings

7) Fellowship addiction recovery - 25%??

8) Social club facilities (Elks, VFW) - 25% capacity - no food

9) Organized sports - all suspended for for weeks (not just Park and Rec) - I assume this means that all the indoor soccer, futsal, basketball, etc. facilities are now closed.

Rinks, adult entertainment facilities - all closed

This cannot be true. So adults can work out in gyms, but teenagers can't practice sports? Unbelievable.

Solve the virus, solve the economy.

Not sure why so many people want to live in this half-half world.

Stay home, end the bug.

People who keep spouting this nonsense are not thinking rationally at all. How can 100% of people stay home? Until that happens, it will not end it--only prolong it. Just stop.

Unless I misunderstood. The prior restriction was no organized sports on Parks and Recs. fields and facilities, indoors and out. The County Executive said that this now applies to all organized sports and practices as of next Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Sorry, but this is true.
THEATERS/ENTERTAINMENT: Indoor theaters, performance venues, bingo, bowling alleys, pool halls, roller rinks and indoor ice rinks will be closed. The county previously suspended organized athletics on county fields and facilities on Nov. 20, and Thursday's announcement suspends all organized sports play or practice, which includes private schools, and school or church gyms.

Why is that unbelievable?

Adults also can't practice sports.

"RETAIL/FITNESS/PERSONAL SERVICES: Retail stores, indoor gyms and fitness centers, personal services establishments (such as nail salons), and casinos will have a reduced maximum capacity of 25%.

No, they are keeping gyms open. Allow kids to practice their sports at a similar restricted capacity. They have been unduly punishing those not at risk throughout this entire pandemic and it's horrendous. But they cave to business owners, where there is actual risk. Hopefully by Wednesday they'll come to their senses.

Sadly, this Governor needs his conservative party to support his 2024 reelection bid, and currently the GOP has gone insane, with Trump and his base refusing to see the medical evidence in front of their eyes that shows what restrictions to take when.

The surge that started before Thanksgiving is taking the most catastrophic path because our current "restrictions" are laughable.

All these people have blood on their hands.

Hogan also recognizes that he the state could not support people put out of work by such an order, and the Feds are awol. It’s not an easy decision- in one sense it amounts to picking winners and losers.

Pittman specifically mentioned that the had the Governor's approval for all of this. The timing, hours before the Governor's presser, is interesting. Does it suggest that the Governor won't take similar actions?

If there is no state action, should we anticipate that Montgomery, Howard, Baltimore, and Prince Georges will also follow suit?

Right, they are keeping gyms open (= gyms) and not allowing people to play/practice sports (=/= gyms).

There's nothing sacred about youth sports, as far as I know.

Correct--we continue to punish children for no reason.
