Either George or Jerry put the money in a shoebox. |

A rice cooker is an extremely useful gift. Even people who don't cook very much appreciate the never-fail quality of this item.
That said, I'm not a fan of useful gifts. I love gifts that are unexpected luxuries -- doesn't matter if they're small ones. I'd rather have one delicious chocolate bar than a Roomba (what my BIL gave my sister last year -- it was not a pretty scene). |

A cool-mist humidifier.
A big jar of real vanilla extract. |
Even better is the flashlight that plugs in that turns on when the power goes out. That is what my mom has. I know because she travels with it and left it here a year ago. |

I use to have a microwavable neck wrap. It was so nice for tight muscles, but DH ruined it by catching it on fire (he figured if 5 minutes in the microwave was good, 10 minutes must be better). I would love to get that again.
Some of them are also "aromatherapy". Don't get one of those. Too smelly. |
+1. I have one in every bathroom and bedroom plus the motion detector lights in the hallway. |
| A weighted blanket. |
|
A wool throw
Vanilla extract A bottle of excellent wine An LL Bean Boat & Tote bag |
| Roomba or that crazy dyson hairdryer |
A rice cooker - one more small appliance that I'd donate as soon as I got it because I don't want to store it. The few times I make rice, I make it in a pot that I use for 1,000 other things. |
| Good kitchen knife |
|
Outdoor heater or nice fire pit
|
| High quality wool socks. Extra heavy but light scented hand moisturizer. (Know lots of people would hate these gifts, but I love them!) |
| One of my favorite Christmas gifts from DH was an umbrella. My very own, non-broken umbrella! I also liked getting gloves with iPhone-friendly fingertips. One year DH got me a new stainless colander. Not really my favorite. That’s the problem with practical gifts. They can be hit or miss. |
Same!! I was hoping they would have a better Black Friday special than the one they offered
