Because it's happy, relaxed, with a dog - someone looking totally at ease with themselves. And I am glad to see THAT as the sort of image used with this news.

I used to work in news. You choose an image to go with a story that reinforces how you expect or want readers to interpret and experience the story. This image tells the story that we should accept this as happy news, normal news. I'm really glad for that.

We don’t know what Elliot wants to do or will do but yes, testosterone would deepen Elliot’s voice, increase body/facial hair, and change their physique (able to gain more muscle, changes fat placement). There’s also top surgery to to remove breast tissue and less common (compared to MtF) bottom surgery like phalloplasty. Why? Because many trans people feel dysphoria when the outside doesn’t “match” the inside. It’s unsettling and uncomfortable.

Happy for him and glad that you find these posts reassuring, PP. I'm a bit older, and I think most in my generation mean to be supportive and inclusive, even if we sometimes seem clueless, especially with trans issues. Hopefully we will keep getting better. Best wishes to you and your child.
