Can I get the Explorer decentlly equipped for $45K? (heated leather seats are a must.) I thought they were like $60k.

You cannot get anything well equipped except used for your budget. You can probably get a lower model with leather heated seats but it will not be what you sound like you want. Most SUV's, especially larger sized are at least $50+

We just got a 2020 MDX with technology package for 37k, $40k with tax and everything.

PP's, what trim levels do you recommend?

I have the Touring (top of the line). Not only does it have heated seats in the front and middle seats, but the front has these ventilated seats for summer that are heavenly! The touring only comes in 7 seater versus 8 though with captains chairs in the middle. That was my preference because it makes the third row super accessible, but some like a 3-person bench in the middle. Captains chairs in the middle are an option at the next level down.

Kia Sorento with the V6 engine

I have had ventilated front seats for 3 years now. A few spills, but no problems. It is welcome feature for our steamy summers.

To those promoting the Subaru - I test drove the Ascent and the Palisade and preferred the Palisade. I wanted to prefer the Subaru .... but didn't.

I think the dimensions of the Ascent and Palisade are the same (or close). [I had similar requirements so had cars I was interested and the dimensions listed so that I did not forget why I ruled something out.

No longer a seven seater. Now just seats 5.

I did not like the Palisade leather.

Awesome! Just to clarify- this was a new one or one of the demo’s with 2-4K miles? Just want to know for bargaining!

Me too. I live in Colorado and just cracked 42k miles in 2 years on my ascent. Love it

Hopefully you understand the connection between your driving and half of Colorado being on fire. In October.

Seriously how does someone put 21K miles a year on a car? Are you driving to Kansas City for groceries or Pueblo for your Starbucks?

When I was a kid in Colorado we got by with cars and our forests were intact.

Now everyone drives gas guzzling SUVs and beetles enabled by global warming have wiped out almost half the forests in the state, most of which will eventually burn down.

I just looked up the Subaru Ascents mileage (27/21) - the car I was driving in the late 80's got better gas mileage.
