Your pick for a 7-seater SUV with $45k budget

Life long Honda fan here. There is a reason the MDX is so cheap. It is one of the least reliable cars rated by Consumer Reports. Among other SUVs ranked higher than the MDX in reliability: Jeep Wrangler, VW Atlas. For the brand as a whole, Acura was ranked 28th out of 30 brands total.

Because a res design is coming out. Who wants to drive an outdated car out of the gate? Plus, my 9 year old said the third row was too small.

I think the dimensions of the Ascent and Palisade are the same (or close). [I had similar requirements so had cars I was interested and the dimensions listed so that I did not forget why I ruled something out.

Why did you like the palisade more?

Obviously. I don’t care at all. It was $15k under stick. I am totally fine with having the model before a redesign.

OP here. The third row is going to be tiny for any of the options that will fit in my garage. Luckily I only have two kids and we don't carpool very often (and not at all right now.)

As for Acura, my husband drives one and has had zero issues. He loves the car. I would definitely consider an MDX.

The Mazda CX-9 is narrower than many of the other ones. I have a tiny garage and it fits in. It also runs on the less expensive side - pretty sure you could get one for under $45k

We love our 2019 RDX. No issues. We’ve had it for 2.5 years.

Does it makes sense that Honda is so highly recommended and Acura is poorly made? Aren’t they basically the same thing?

Was it an SH-AWD+Technology with MSRP ~ $53k? Best Truecar offers from Pohanta are 40.7K before tax+fees. Great deal you got. Congrats.

Can the person who bought the MDX with tech package for 37k plus tax tags title offer more detail? Are you allowed to give s salesperson name? Any add-ons or trade-in? cash or financing? Thanks!

Love our MDX. I think you’d have to purchase a year old to get it down to 45k. Drives well and it’s literally the only car I’ve had NO issues with.
