I don’t want a breezy shower. Give me a full glass shower stall any day!
And another vote for heated floors. Oh, and a separate room for the toilet. |
| I love our heated towel rack. |

I hate a toilet in a tiny room with no sink, but a door. Just leave the toilet out, but around a corner/wall so you can't see it.
heated floors, the perfect tile/stone/surface choices for our style, long vanity and large shower- no door, just a couple glass walls and a heater/bathroom exhaust where you get out |
| Am I the only weirdo who prefers small bathrooms to keep the heat in? I have a traditional water heater that's good for about a 10-minute shower with truly hot water. I have long, curly hair...it takes 10 minutes just to work the shampoo out, let alone all the soaping / shaving / conditioning that people do. I can turn the water down to lukewarm, but this only works because my en suite bathroom is TINY. The steam stays in, keeping me from shivering, and then I have a powerful exhaust fan to suck it all out and prevent mold. Few private homes do palatial baths well...always so cold. Heated floors and unlimited hot water seem to be the purview of expensive hotels. |
It's not cold at all. The rest of my bathroom is small though, which is probably a big factor in keeping the heat in. |
| I love my bump-out window bench with drawers underneath! |

Can anyone post a picture of the showers without glass walls? I'm having trouble picturing how it works.
We are hoping to redo our master bath (and the kids' bath) in a few months and I'm also gathering ideas. Thanks! |
I have a separate sit down vanity that I never use. I prefer being by the sink so I can wash my hands after getting tinted moisturizer, etc on my fingers. |
I had a vanity, not built in, in our room that I used for blowing my hair and putting make up on when DH and I were on the same schedule and rushing to get out of the house. I agree with liking to wash my hands at a sink. |
You're not alone! We have a huge water heater, and our bathroom is large and it is still so cold in the winter. A heated floor would help, but I really don't see the point of having lots of relatively unused space in the master bath. I'd rather have a huge closet. Also, definitely have the toilet in a separate water closet. I don't get pp's objection to having no sink -- the sink is right outside the door of the WC. If it really bothers you, just add another small sink. We just spent a lot of money to add a WC, as the people who built our massive bathroom somehow thought it was ok to plop the toilet down right down in between the shower and bathtub. Think about where your closets are, as well. Our closets are off the corridor that leads to the bath, so before we built the WC, it was awkward to go into the closets when someone was using the bathroom. |
| Professional closet service. I used econize, which is local and afforable. Such an incredible difference from what I had. |

Heated floors
An good exhaust fan / heater combo - can keep the room warm in the winter, and quickly dispense steam when I'm done If you have a soaking tub - build in a small shelf alongside it where you can set a glass of wine and a magazine, and have soft dim light above the tub |

Toto toilet/bidet combo.
Electrical outlets inside cabinets or drawers. |
| Separate toilet room is great. Completely separate vanities - not just a double sink. We have a huge shower that is enclosed with walls/tile, not glass - just a glass door to get in. I feel like I'm showering in a private cave and I love it. |

Heated floors
Double sinks Timer for exhaust fan so it shuts off automatically No tub Thermostatic shower system - You set the temperature on one dial and never have to adjust it. Just turn the other dial to on & it's always at the right temp. |
