‘You people’ is some pretty racially charged language. |
Dear previous teacher poster, Please know that 1,000 DCPS parents signed this letter of solidarity with you. ONE THOUSAND. In just a few days. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeEj2ex2OnG8RNLlt_6htHHNg8v6KKydXrVefwRE6kxyLDmGQ/closedform There’s a lot of conservatives out there who want to damage public schools and damage unions, because a few rightwing billionaires can make money by privatizing education. And this opinion, for whatever reason, is overrepresented on DCUM. Parents are with the teachers. DCPS has no good options because of Republicans mismanaging the pandemic. But parents all know you’re trying hard. Real DCPS parents reading this thread, I encourage you to send a note to your teachers now talking about what you’re happy about with their teaching, and saying you support them. (I’m sure we’ll get more anti-union, anti-teacher replies to this. Ignore them!) |
Thank you again from another teacher. Unfortunately we need to come to forums to get information about our schools that we work because we are so often left out of the loop. It’s been quite visceral to be quite honest. Speaking for myself personally, this wasn’t an easy decision to make. My entire life is my job and my students - my kids, if I may - are like family. I hope this terrible pandemic ends so that we can return to schools and offer a safe, loving environment for all students. Teachers are nothing without the families that support and trust us with their children’s lives. Be well and thank you! |
| It says there will be robust lesson plans and teachers are to communication via phone, email and can use Zoom. So are they really just boycotting Microsoft Teams? |
It's funny, because I actually am a member of AFSCME. This strike is poorly-thought out. YOU DON'T HURT THE PEOPLE YOU NEED ON YOUR SIDE. |
so are you not planning to go back into the classroom until the pandemic is over? and what's that metric? |
Dear clueless parent, Please know that there is a large, silent majority of parents who think it’s a travesty. We aren’t conservatives, as much as you’d love to think that. |
Yet somehow the kids who can pay to go to school can go in person. How can you rationalize that as supporting your students? |
Yes, thank YOU! Great teachers are probably the most important part of any great school. I am so happy my kids have great teachers. And as discussed above, if teachers need more info about the conservative effort to tear down public schools and why they’re doing it, please let us know here. Twenty years ago when DeVos and the Waltons were doing their work secretly, it was hard to get information on who they were paying and why. Today we know a lot more about rightwing billionaires, what they want, how they spend their money, and how they try to manipulate public opinion. The real proof is all the parent support at protests. Let’s find a good solution for as many kids as possible, with a plan that consults all parties. We’ll do that together. ❤️ |

Because of delusional people like you. |
As are 95% of the parents who signed that letter. |
And I’m sure at least half are in pods with a private tutor |
+1000. Refusing to serve your community, the students you said you love is not brave. It is selfish and disgusting.
Because if there is one thing I have learned in the past 7-8 months is that our educators are not the brightest of people. You cannot command respect with such low intelligence. |
