Why are there so few Trump signs in DC, given all the conservatives who live and work here?

Because Trump isn't a conservative.

Silent Red Wave exists and is voting. It’s going to be a much closer election than polling suggests.

I’ve seen 3 or 4 Trump signs in DC, all in NW, since 2016. They don’t last long, especially in apartment buildings — people are either harassed or someone complains to the property manager, would be my guess, since the signs disappear within a week or two of my sighting. I’ve only seen a super small sticker on a SFH.

Trump people don't live in the city. They hate cities and think "real Americans" don't live in urban places.

I’ve seen none of those, but Republicans are desperately trying to whitewash their support for Trump.

Remember 52 Senators voted to allow his corruption.

The best example is probably Miles Taylor, who signed off on tearing kids away from their parents and is now trying to bill himself as not supporting Trump.

I already voted for Trump. Live in CCDC. No way would I put up a Trump sign on my lawn. No way. Lol. This place is so intolerable. Many of my neighbors have the virtue signaling signs. Lots have BLM signs too. I often smile and laugh inside knowing I’d filed over the last few years at least a dozen pro Bono civil rights cases against DC for falsely claiming my black clients assaulted a police officer after the cops jacked them up. In several cases I got them a decent settlement. I also assisted dozens of poor black folks in landlord tenant disputes. So I show up. I don’t need to put fake posters out even though many of these people have generational wealth and never thought of black people much before.

Anyway. I think Trump is doing a fine job. Really.

Exactly. He’s very old school democrat with his populism and support for social programs. I don’t get the hate. Yes he talks without filters.

Fellow Trump supporter here. Part of it was watching all of our liberal friends cry and pearl-clutch after the last election. The way they talked, they just couldn't understand why anyone would vote for Trump. Since then, the dialogue has only deteriorated. Jumps straight to name-calling and snarling. Your education, morals and character are called into question (even though I have posted numerous citations in DCUM threads that show that Republicans are just as (or more) informed than Democrats on a wide variety of topics, including science, the Constitution, US history, etc. etc.) There is basically no convincing people (so no reason for a sign) and no reason to risk property damage from all of the enlightened liberals in our area.

This.
Highly educated, female. Don't need the name-calling etc.--gets old really fast. If people want to discuss the specifics of a specific policy or proposal based on facts and evidence, I'll all in. But the broad-brush stuff--forget it. Like pp who has done all of the pro bono work (BRAVO!), I'll stick to walking the walk instead of talking the talk.

Same. Suburban woman who voted early for Trump. My family has a strong presence in law enforcement and there's no possible way I could vote in "Defund Democrats."

I don't talk politics with anyone unless I know for certain that they will truly listen to me and have a good-natured debate. I hate that spirited debate has been lost in the last 20 years. And I do partially blame the Republicans for this partisanship - Lee Atwater started this problem.

The very first Trump campaign sign I have seen in DC. There was even a camera crew filming it. 🤮

I am struck by this too.
There are many conservatives in DC, even though the majority of DC residents, parents, and voters are Democrats. (We know that the strongest predictor of Trump voting was low-education levels, and of course a highly-educated city like DC, where people understand what's going on with Trump and the Republican party, would be highly anti-GOP, just like every area where Fox and rightwing media are not heavily consumed.) But a ton of conservatives come here for jobs and some live in DC and many work here and eat at restaurants here, even if they vote elsewhere.

Still, I have almost NEVER seen a Trump sign or hat in DC, and I walk around the city A LOT. Tourists around the white house sometimes, yeah. But never in real DC.
I can count on two fingers how many trump hats I've seen in 2 years outside the mall and White House.

Yet drive around - there are Democratic stickers EVERYWHERE.

And in other areas of the country, like red Virginia and purple and red OH, NY, MD that I've been, I've seen many Dem and Biden signs along with Trump signs.

I think the lack of Trump hats and shirts in DC is because Trumpers in DC are afraid. They know their ideas are trash and their voters are lied to.

Republicans in DC know that even though they work for Republican outlets, they can't actually win an argument on fair terms with liberals, because their party is constructed from lies.

So Republicans hide in their little bubbles, read their deceptive and lame rightwing DC Examiner and Washington Times and Wall Street Journal, high-five their fellow staffers and Cato employees.

And when they go out in DC, they're afraid to show their identity. Because they can't defend it. They can only justify what they believe inside their own sealed bubble of lies.

It's sad, really. I almost feel bad for them.

It’s because of people like you.

There are 3 people on my block (although in Bethesda, not DC) who work in pretty high level jobs in the Trump Administration. None have Trump signs. I assume it's because it's not a very Bethesda thing. To be fair there are not very many Biden signs either. But plenty of BLM signs.
