Its an issue as even if you choose to keep your child home, if your teammates attend, they can bring covid in. I don't see how that's ok but that's why they are doing it in VA where the rules are more flexible. |
| RMSC’s NTG meet was good. I hope it’s used as a model for younger groups. DD is in the NDG’s and has competed against her own group but times were not official and the events were a lot of relays. |

They are using 50% of max capacity at St. James to determine numbers. You can see a breakdown in the supplemental meet info on PVS site.
The facility specs say that 50% pool occupancy is 167 and the spectator stands allow another 103 people. They are using the stands for swimmers when they are not in the water or otherwise on deck. I'd like to see it with 80 kids plus coaches and volunteers, but reading through the breakdown, it seems like they will be able to keep distance. |
It’s disappointing that Machine is doing this. The St. James should enforce masks and distances. How many event can the kids do? |
|
From the 10/24 meet at St. James (I don’t see a Machine meet):
All attendees (athletes, coaches, volunteers, officials, etc.) must wear masks, with the exception of athletes when warming up, cooling down, and competing. |

There are like six different teams invited to this meet. How is that okay? https://www.pvswim.org/2021sanc/21-113-ma.pdf |
I didn't think relays were allowed? They seem far more dangerous than straight swimming. |
Except the other half of the pool is generally for members to be allowed to swim. So not sure how that works. Also I didn't think you could have that many teams. |
The pool is entirely closed during a meet. The 50% pool occupancy is the number of people allowed in the pool during COVID. |
New poster, but also NDG parent. It’s at practice with less than 30 kids, they’re not crowding the start line. And when they exchange one kid is underwater. Just something to have some fun and practice racing in these weird times. I haven’t heard my kid talk about it lately, but they did it some outside this summer. |
Since they’re all from the same general area, doesn’t really bother me. It’s not that different than bringing together our 5 different RMSC sites for the NTG meet. If they got a sanction, it’s allowed. |
| Bothers me. It’s too many kids at one meet. |
I hope they don't we are very concerned about catching Covid from a teammate. |
I feel the same. I don't have an issue with multiple teams (there are some small teams out there after all, and they should get a chance to compete, too)-- but more than 50 swimmers in a session makes me flinch. |
