What has your daycare or preschool said about travel around the holidays?

We were hoping to go to Vermont to ski but will just drive to WV instead since it’s the plane ride, not travel, that triggers the test requirement. They also quarantine a class for a runny nose (no symptoms) and require a negative PCR test prior to returning. That’s all fine and we’ll until the cares act leave expires in December. Then what am I supposed to do in January-April every time Susie has the sniffles?!

Does this school require masks for all of the kids? A negative PCR test after any airline travel is intense. I'm wonder if the rules are so strict because there are no masks? Or maybe it's the opposite and ALL the rules are very cautious (masks, hand washing, distancing, etc.)?

A negative PCR after airline travel doesn't seem unreasonable to me. The airline travel is itself a risk and, if you are traveling by air, you will either be staying with family or staying in hotels and patronizing restaurants, etc. That certainly adds a level of risk.

Meaning you can't gather with your extended family without wearing masks?

Do the State rules state that you have to wear a mask when in small gatherings?

Our preschool is saying that if you travel to a state that the CDC or Johns Hopkins has listed as a "hot spot", or you travel out of the country, you have to quarantine for two weeks before you return to school.

Makes sense. Does your preschool require masks at school?

Virginia allows gatherings of up to 250 people, and clearly it's not safe to gather with 250 unmasked people who are not distancing themselves. 250 masked people or 250 people who are each spaced out by 6 feet would be one thing (I personally still wouldn't do it, but I could see how a reasonable person might). But 250 unmasked people inside appears to be allowed per Virginia rules, and there's no way that's safe.
