Have they told you your child needs to stay home for 2 weeks if you visit family? Or go to a hot spot? Have they encouraged you to "be careful" (which is meaningless because everyone thinks they are being careful)? Have they said anything at all? |
Our daycare has said nothing at all. We don’t get asked about travel, interactions with family, what we do on the weekends, etc.
Our daycare has been reopened since late May. 2 confirmed cases during that time. |
If traveling to a State designated hot spot we are asking parents to follow State rules about self quarantining. We are not asking more of parents and families than the State requires. |
This seems reasonable. It would create quite a fight with families to try to impose more requirements and they would (depending on their contracts/policies) potentially be on shaky ground if challenged. |
We are in DC and this is required of cinnabar verbs. So if they travel to astate that DC considers a hot spot, they must quarantine for 14 days. For staff, I have explicitly told the staff that we just don't have the staff to have teachers gone for 3 weeks because of a 1 week vacation. |
They have requested no travel however (as I have posted before) our daycare has a long lost of what I consider ridiculous no-nos such as no one who sends a child to the center can: dine in a restaurant, go to the gym, travel, work in an office without approval of the director... the list goes on and one. I think most people just lie about what they do. |
And that’s exactly why that one sent her in a thread below is closing for the entire time between Thanksgiving and January. |
They have taken the position you have to ask permission of the daycare director to go into your office? That's absolutely insane. |
Agree. She thought parents should work from home. I have been in the office since May and need daycare open otherwise I lose my job. I got a lot of grief when I told her I would be in my office. I didn’t want to lie. |
Ours requires a five day wait period then negative PCR test after airline travel. We were hoping to go to Vermont to ski but will just drive to WV instead since it’s the plane ride, not travel, that triggers the test requirement. They also quarantine a class for a runny nose (no symptoms) and require a negative PCR test prior to returning. That’s all fine and we’ll until the cares act leave expires in December. Then what am I supposed to do in January-April every time Susie has the sniffles?! |
I can't figure out what "cinnabar verbs" was supposed to say, LOL! I'm usually pretty good about translating weird autocorrects, too! |
Ours also mimics the state quarantine requirements. We signed an addendum agreeing to masks/SD generally which I think would apply to any gatherings.
|
Omigod that was me! Rereading it, I think cinnabar verbs is.... children and staff. That is, we hold staff and children to the same standard: visit a state that is on DC's hot spot list? Quarantine for 14 days. For kids, that's fine with me - but with staff I CANNOT have a teacher gone for 3 whole weeks - 1 week for vacation and 2 weeks for quarantine. We are tightly staffed now in Covid times, so losing a teacher for 3 weeks isn't going to cut it. |
Meaning you can't gather with your extended family without wearing masks? |
Does this school require masks for all of the kids? A negative PCR test after any airline travel is intense. I'm wonder if the rules are so strict because there are no masks? Or maybe it's the opposite and ALL the rules are very cautious (masks, hand washing, distancing, etc.)? |
