I am sad today.

The era of the Eastern Seaboard public magnets is coming to the end.

We have friends who have had their child prepping for the exam for about 4 years. I thought it was insane.

We went to a prepping place with DD and took the evaluation test. She was in 6th grade and got almost everything right. The prep center said she didn't need to take classes and told us to keep on doing what we have been doing.

Khan academy. She is now studying SATs on her own.

Don't understand what all this fuss about prepping is about.

Same here. My kid took SAT mock test in a prep center and they told me she did not need to take the class. My kid loves to read and write and do competition math. Her math score on mock SAT was 760 without studying SAT at all.

Should law school remove test since people can prep for it? Should medical school remove test since people can prep for it? Let's all switch to the lottery system!

You sound ignorant. Do you know anyone who has taken the LSAT or MCAT?

Many places removed the SAT requirement.

Some places (Utah and Washington state) removed the bar exam requirement this year.

Point is, obviously those exams are not necessary. Current students there are mad because their diploma prestige and bragging rights are dwindling away. For current freshman, I think this is especially true.

The business of prep for TJ and cheat starts to melt.

Let's get rid of driving tests while we are at it.

Whether there’s a test or not, students should be picked on merit, not chance.

Yeah, there will at least be a problem solving essay and other methods to weed out the idiot PP's idiot kids.

"Problem solving essay"... What a joke. Enter a new era of BS.

Not exactly. Don't be disingenuous.

Exams are not neccessary? Hold on. First of all, Utah is only letting students skip the bar if, among other things, they had signed up for the July 2020 bar by April 1, graduated from schools that posted a 86% first time pass rate and completed 350 hrs under direct supervision of a lawyer who passed the bar. This is only temporary for covid. But those who know better, know that these exams will protect the public from those who try to practice law without demonstrating competence through passing the bar first.

Eh, some states don’t even require law school.

FWIW, I’m an attorney. Law school did not teach me how to actually practice law. I had no classes in client consultations, deposition prep, depositions, mother drafting, drafting and reviewing discovery, preparing settlement agreements or retainers, etc.

I assure you that going to law school does not assure competence. It assures a standard amount of basic general legal knowledge but really nothing more than that.

But you still have to pass the bar.
