Lost 50 pounds, added cardio/strength, and now have stopped losing

The simple answer is that you’re not burning the 300 Extra calories that you’re eating.

Thanks. I track calories eaten using noom. And the fitbit tells me my calories expended. Even if it was off by 20%, I should still be losing weight... oh well.

Don’t do frequent hiit workouts. It is just incompatible with weight loss. It’s like revving your engine for 20 minutes versus going for an hour long drive. For fat loss you need long and hard to bypass muscle build to make your body pull from your fat reserves to fuel.

I am not sure about your height and weight or how many calories you have been eating to lose but if you have lost 50 lbs it is also possible that you need to adjust your calories down to account for having lost 50 lbs. But that depends on where your calories are and if they were based on your desired goal weight or something else. A good calculation to determine calorie range for fat loss is goal weight x 1012.

Goal weight x 12, not 1012.

Oops. Actually meant goal weight x 10-12. For the range to eat in.

OP here. I cut the calories back and lost 2 pounds this week!

I don't want to give up this morning class. I like it. My resting heart rate has dropped into the 60s (it was in the 80s last year). I feel stronger, more toned, more flexible, and have better balance. All of that had been happening with the hiking/biking/walking, but this class has enhanced all that. And as the weather gets bad in the winter, it's nice to have an indoor class to fall back on, because while I will try my best to keep exercising outside...I know me. And that won't happen with the frequency I've been able to sustain all spring and fall.
