Stick to your AP classes.

AP Classes? I wish. What about the kids stuck with an IB school?

These are all private institutions.

They would have a lot more funds to help with this if they choose to stop funneling money into the numerous expensive tech programs they choose to splurge on. Stuff like the crappy ST Math and dozens of others which aim to remove teachers from the act of teaching (and students from learning).

SB fiscal responsibility (or lack thereof) is for another thread). Sigh

Why do Title I schools get more money? Why do some schools offer free lunches to all students? Shouldn't all schools be equal?

They receive millions of taxpayer money and are subject to federal laws.

Let’s dumb everyone down. There’s a movie about this it’s called “Idiocracy” by Mike Judge.

It’s not only about funding schools. There’s an imperial need to change the attitudes in the whole system, from teachers to SB. In less developed countries the level of education kids are better educated than in the US.
I think it’s time to focus on improving elementary schools and getting rid of bs.

Or they could start with UVA, UCLA, UCB, all public schools. Open them to all and use a lottery to pick students.

Why put all money in one basket and select who needs to be in that based on lottery ?

Its my understanding that a lot of the equipment TJ has is from donations received from private industry. There's nothing wrong in soliciting industry and parents for donations. TJ's stated purpose as a governor's school is to meet the needs of the gifted. If you feel that the gifted's needs can be met in regular high schools, feel free to argue so, but I don't believe FCPS highschools as a whole are setup for original research, nor teaching courses generally covered in college.

You could make the argument to just have FCPS give these kids free money to go take classes at NOVA or GMU instead to meet their gifted needs and shut down TJ if you meet certain criteria.

They do take federal funds.
