Also look into Starting Strength, similar to Stronglifts, but by Mark Rippetoe, a power lifter and Olympic weightlifting coach. If you want to lift, you will need to invest in equipment; squat rack and barbells. You can get started with dumbbells, but I find my grip strength to be a limiting factor for the lower body exercises.

As others have said, form is REALLY important. Start with no/low weights, and record yourself, until you are confident you are doing it right, especially if you don’t have someone knowledgeable to coach you.
