What’s with the long denim skirts?

Anonymous
OP here: they drove there, this is in upper Moco on the eastern side. Like northern Silver Spring/Spencerville/Ashton area. There is a pavilion area and in chalk someone had written Jesus Lives You. And a heart and some other scribbles. My assumption was that they had written it but I’m not sure of that to be honest. Didn’t see them write it but I assumed. The denim skirt being like jeans makes sense I guess. They had their hair up in a bun. Didn’t seem like a wig but we didn’t get that close.

That would be my first guess.

OP, what Christian sect has a clothing requirement like that?

Sister wives and some evangelicals.

Sister wives are Christian? Isn't extramarital sex taboo?

Not evangelicals-probably fundamental Christians. That's pretty typical for the women.

I love seeing folks like this - modest, family-focuses - whether Mennonites, Orthodox Jewish, conservative evangelicals, doesn’t matter. Warms my heart!

Ultra-Orthodox Jews do not wear denim. Modern Orthodox, yes, but not further to the right. It is seen as too casual.

Long denim skirts don't blow up with the wind and then can bend and move around without fear of exposing themselves

They were both wearing long denim skirts, and long sleeve blouses. I understand the religious aspect of keeping skin covered but is there a religious connection to the long denim skirt? When I see people dressed like this I think “ fundamentalist Christians “ who probably homeschool their kids and are very subservient spouses. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong....... but my general question is the denim skirts?

How do you know these women were religious?
