old thread about Alice who owns GOMI and the weird ass stuff she does (reading member emails posted to one another, deleting comments that upstage her own, rude comments to everyone, arbitrary banning, unlimited server problems, absolute hypocrisy (always doing the same thing she makes fun of in others like trying to be a fashion internet person, mocking bloggers for closing comments and banning people but doing the same thing on her site, mocking bloggers for begging for money for doing the same thing on her site, etc). Not sure if this is still an issue, but there also used to be lots of drunk posting and weird calls to members.

She's always been super vague about how they met and only when called out on GOMI did she *finally* admit they met online.
She lied about when they got married, had a secret wedding for a green card and the pretty, pretty princess day a year or two later. She's from Canada and they live in Texas.
Most of us know her from TheKnot (she's also a frequent poster on TheNest, TheBump and GBCN). There, she was encouraged to start her blog and from then on has pimped the blog through message boards to gain a wider audience. Most of our general dislike of Veronika comes from her online activities, things she has said and things she has done. Unfortunately, in typical Veronika fashion, she has deleted all of her previous screen names and posts. She has done this before in the past.
Her IG followers are insane. They ask her the most asinine questions and she answers with authority in a "teaching" tone. It's the biggest freaking trainwreck in progress. She has a Google Alert on herself and reads GOMI religiously.

I read that a long time ago - I guess that really explains the megathread? If she was on the radar of a lot of people who were also on other message boards. I posted on The Knot a long while back, I wonder if we posted at the same time or who she was on there. I never made the switch to The Nest or Bump though.

I'm pretty sure she was VeronaBrit and TheyCalledHerKate on the Nest and later GBCN. I think most of her haters on GOMI came from there.

All I can agree on is she is thin and probably has haters. She definitely isn’t anything special to warrant praise or hate.

Ooh I actually know the answer to this one. She runs a home decorating Facebook page that’s gotten big recently. A lot of people never go on Instagram, so don’t judge a person based on that. I’m an avid blog reader of lots of different pages and I mostly follow through feedly. I hate Instagram

I don’t have any beef with her. She does help other women fix up their houses. She’s just a bit too consumerist though. And doesn’t have anything vintage in her house except maybe a piece of furniture. A lot of us are decorators and we scout estate sales and such for vintage decor. She just wants the rstyle money from when you buy things off of what she links. Her home is lovely though.

No it’s the people posting. It”s largely made up of people with serious social anxiety and depression and the site and others like it is their main socialization outlet. It’s a safe space for those people as it lacks the an anxiety inducement of real in person socializing.
