| So there are going to be leagues? Our club is making us jump through hoops just to even get field space to hold practices. Currently they’re only doing limited sessions with ridiculous guidelines such as players not even able to pass the ball to each other, and only certain coaches at the club can run practices. Players were encouraged to register over the summer for watered-down training and can’t even be trained by their own coaches at the moment, which was a huge reason for them even wanting to be at the club in the first place. When you consider how so many teams are already back in full training and preparing for a possible fall season, this situation is beyond farcical. |
WAGs already had some age groups in Stafford and Fredericksburg so I assume all the fairfax county fields will move over to Loudoun (evergreen/movern) and PWC (Long Park, Hellwig, etc.) for the remaining games and it will be fine. There will prob. be a cap on teams and no teams allowed from "hot spots". |
| Fairfax county told our league games yes, tournaments no. |
For now. We'll see how they feel on Sep 15th, when cases start rising again. |
Ohhh, yeah...the local cases will start spiking prediction has to be right one of these days. |
| If everybody is wearing masks and schools aren’t opening, no reason for cases to go up |
Everybody isn't wearing masks. |
Daily infections already on the rise and to Spring levels... https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/virginia |

This is inevitable. Lockdown is impossible and won’t eliminate the virus. You need to manage the spread and work towards immunity whiles vaccines develop and either fail or succeed. |
Ask your club what their plans are. My guess is they will be relaxing the rules shortly. My DS' club spent two weeks doing what you are still doing, then two weeks where passing was allowed, but not scrimmaging. Then they moved to scrimmaging a week or two back and held inter-age group scrimmages this weekend. Many other clubs are on a similar schedule so sounds like you are with a super-cautious club. If they don;t have a timeline mapped out to move towards normal play, you might want to think about moving to a different club. |
Lockdowns have been shown to be the only effective way to manage the spread. If hospitals reach their carrying capacity, that's when death rates can really soar. See Italy. |
It depends on what you mean by manage. If your ICUs are below full capacity, that can be one form of management. By manage, you mean prevent, and even that has proven false. See lockdowns in the United States in March/April. And you will see the return in Italy. Mark my words. |
Actually, all you need to do is look to New Zealand and China. Lockdowns not only managed the ICU cues but have practically snuffed it out. New Zealand just had their first new case in 100 days and guess what, locked back down. It works. |
