Just released by McLean, Fairfax County Return To Play:
Return to Play Update from Fairfax County Park Authority: Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fairfax County has made the difficult decision that athletic tournaments scheduled for the fall season will not be conducted in 2020. Permitted use of fields at Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) facilities for leagues, organizations and groups of individuals during times designated for community use will continue. As a reminder, all sports organizations are responsible for ensuring that all players, parents, coaches and fans strictly adhere to CDC Considerations for Youth Sports and Forward Virginia Phase 3 Guidelines for Recreational Sports. Failure to do so may result in the loss of your permit to use fields in Fairfax County. |
So I guess no WAGS this year |
Is this in reference to high school sports? If not, it seems to contradict the information on the other thread about a recent Fairfax County decision to allow competitive games. |
| Games yes. Tournaments no. That’s how I read it. |
me too |
| Get ready for WAGS Columbus day Scrimmage Fest and Mclean November Scrimmage fest |
| Veterans weekend scrimmage fest |
LOL! Exactly. No one is "keeping score" |
| Guess teams that want to compete in competitive tournaments will have to travel. |
| Doing this to reduce travel from teams outside of nova. Local scrimmage fests only. You won’t travel to other areas as they’ll be closed too. Except Delaware which has been holding lacrosse tourneys already. |
| Charlottesville is hosting baseball tournaments. Maybe they will host soccer too? |
There is a softball tournament in Loudoun this weekend. |
| Penn Fusion held a Showcase last weekend. with mostly PA teams. I don't know why Fairfax-based clubs can't hold tournaments with local teams. Folks, between Richmond and Baltimore, there are probably a half dozen elite teams in each age category and more than a dozen more competitive teams. |
| Folks should keep an eye on the Dulles National Soccer Tournament. It's one of the few Labor Day tourneys still proceeding. It's hosted by Herndon but the vast majority of the games are played at Morven in Loudoun. As long as Loudoun doesn't do something stupid, then Herndon might be able to get the whole thing played in the next county over. |
From their website... UPDATE 8/8/2020 - Due to Fairfax County decision to not allow any tournaments in any sport through the rest of 2020, the DNST has, unfortunately, been cancelled this year. We hope to see you next year. |
