This is inevitable. Lockdown is impossible and won’t eliminate the virus. You need to manage the spread and work towards immunity whiles vaccines develop and either fail or succeed. [/quote]

Lockdowns have been shown to be the only effective way to manage the spread.  If hospitals reach their carrying capacity, that's when death rates can really soar.   See Italy.[/quote]

It depends on what you mean by manage.  If your ICUs are below full capacity, that can be one form of management.  By manage, you mean prevent, and even that has proven false.  See lockdowns in the United States in March/April.  And you will see the return in Italy.  Mark my words.[/quote]

Actually, all you need to do is look to New Zealand and China.   Lockdowns not only managed the ICU cues but have practically snuffed it out.  New Zealand just had their first new case in 100 days and guess what, locked back down.
