"They definitely should not do what we have done"

Yep

Confident it had beaten the coronavirus and desperate to reboot a devastated economy, the Israeli government invited the entire student body back in late May.

Within days, infections were reported at a Jerusalem high school, which quickly mushroomed into the largest outbreak in a single school in Israel, possibly the world.

The virus rippled out to the students’ homes and then to other schools and neighborhoods, ultimately infecting hundreds of students, teachers and relatives.

We don't do that. We need to make all our mistakes on our own.

We live in a horrid country, we really do.

Please tell all the people trying to get here that.
It's cruel not to.

They don't know what they are getting themselves into.

Yes! Let's learn from their mistake but not overreact on the opposite side of the spectrum.

I agree, as do most that we should not open this way because that would be devastating for us. Israel fully opened with all the students in their classrooms. I don't know of any school around here planning to do this. Private schools are talking about having 10 kids in a classroom with many protocols in place. When publics do open, they are looking at a hybrid model.

Saving the life of one teacher or child is definitely worth closing down a country of 336 million. Not doing that is so definitely a Hunger Games mentality. And I totally agree with your comparison to the Israeli school that welcomed back 100% of the students. That definitely sounds a lot like what the MoCo privates will be doing (my child will have 4 students per classroom, so I definitely get your point).

Oh, I think the whole world knows now what a crappy country the US has become. It's no secret.

This is what the U.S. Will do wait until a teacher does and close down again and day "it was only 1 teacher".

Hello Hunger games, may the odds be ever in your favor.

A 64 year-old teacher died. Did she get covid from a student? Probably she got it from another adult. Anyone over the age of 60 needs to STAY HOME. Anyone younger with a chronic condition needs to stay home. Pay them if they are essential workers who can't work remotely (as teachers should be classified).

Keep in mind too that this mayhem happened in Jerusalem with a population that skews orthodox. This is the population culturally less likely to social distance or wear things on their faces.

Although this was a hard lesson to learn for Israel, I applaud them for prioritizing education. And I would bet a lot of money that they will get it right this fall and won't have any deaths and far fewer cases.

If you really believe that, and don't move yourself and family to what you consider a better place, you are a spectacularly weak person.

Some of us choose to remain in the hopes of improving it. Part of that improvement is forcing people like you either to leave or to shut Up.

Dude. People cant just up and move. Life doesn’t work that way.

Also, the “why don’t you leave” argument is right-wing BS used to when they don’t have actual arguments. Why not try and stay and fix the mess here?
