Montgomery county orders private schools closed

This is surprising.

Wow. Our private special needs school announced a hybrid model for the youngest kids just this evening. Sucks to be the head/admin. So much wasted effort.

So where is the order closing gyms and indoor dining? Does this apply to daycares too?

The Governor punted to the health officer who made this political decision that will negatively affect children for years to come. Good job MOCO.

I am a public school parent who was hoping the privates would open. I figured if it worked out for them there might be hope that the publics could get their act together. Now we are just sol together forever it seems.

Agreed. I've never advocated lawsuits but it seems appropriate if there isnt an order for everything else "high-risk" closing down soon.

Seriously, private schools can implement the same safety protocols that daycares can.

Public was not opening under any circumstances due to the unions. As a public school parent, I couldn’t be happier with this decision. It was completely unfair to public school children that private school children may have gotten an even better than they already get experience while public school children fall even further behind. This really helps to prevent that

Why are you on here? Float somewhere else. Don’t deluded yourself MCPS is on par with private school instruction.

MCPS is in free fall. The divide is only going to get wider.

If you could afford private, you'd be singing a different tune. Your comment is pointless. Our area will never reach equality in education and this won't be any different. Private DL will allow private school kids to continue to excel while public school DL will continue to be a disaster.

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. I expect the private schools should sue to open. This is about worry that private schools kids are getting to go to school. We are paying. If this does not encourage everyone to vote republican...

Having just left MCPS we can attest to the last part of this comment.

I would totally support this if there was any consistency whatsoever. Close the bars and restaurants and beaches and daycares then. Are they saying that the CDC guidelines are insufficient? And does that mean Goddard closes too or are they a “daycare” or “preschool”?

You notice there is no benchmark that they use for reopening. It’s just, your closed until x date when I will revisit it.

Parents should rise up.
