Nope, I'd be interested in an in-person small group, but if it's virtual I still have to figure out childcare.

If it's virtual, I might as well do the free school-provided DL, since I'll have to supervise my child anyway. In-person tutoring is the only thing that would make my life any easier.

No. That's what the school is mostly offering.

If your kids are young enough to need childcare, I'd focus on that, rather than on specific teaching credentials. Pandemic times are stressful, and the most important thing is you find some situation where your kids will feel secure. And your sitter/nanny doesn't need a teaching credential to read to your kid, or help them do a worksheet, or teach them a chimney sweep themed dance, or whatever else.

Hello, I'd be willing to teach in person.
But only if your child takes medicine with sugar, as you know a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down. In the most delightful way.

Best,

Mary

Would you pay another parent to do this if your kids are roughly the same age as theirs? How much? If I could cover a quarter of my salary, I'd consider taking a sabbatical to do this.

I have a Masters in Education but have not worked in a school since internship (went into edu policy and then into an adjacent policy field).

Dear Mary,

I've torn up a letter and thrown it into the fireplace so you'll know where to find us. Will you be arriving by flying umbrella?

Love,
Your next Mrs. Banks

I paid a FFX teacher $20/hr to supervise the APS curriculum in the spring for lower elementary. If I go in with a pod for fall I imagine we’ll be paying $30-40/hr for 3-4 kids. So if it was my kid and yours and you were hosting, I’d pay $15-20/hr, on the books, through a nanny payroll type company.

The governess must be able to make play clothes for the littles out of curtains. And she must be an excellent singer.

The governess should also be prepared to teach my children French, needlework and harpsichord.

No one ever learned anything from a governess except for French, and how to curtsy. - Lady Sybil

That’s really low. I pay teenage babysitters that much.

Thank you for the feedback. I won't request my sabbatical quite yet.
