| King County in Washington (the county Seattle is in) was originally named after William King, a US VP and a slave owner. Instead of changing the name they changed who the county name honors. MLK Jr is who it’s named after now, he’s on the logo and the flag. This was in the early 2000s. |
I say we should rename Montgomery County after Elizabeth Montgomery of the 60's TV show Bewitched. |
|
We should have nothing but streets with letters and numbers. Unless there are some offensive numbers/letters.
Schools can also just have numbers that correspond with their street address. School 1234. Problem solved. |

They were all armed. What are you talking about? |
Robert White was wailing on the cop. Have you watched the body worn camera footage? And the other guy had an ice pick. |
Yessss. |
Or Montgomery Clift, because he was gay. |

George Washington also had slaves. As did Jefferson, and other US potus. Maybe we should take down their monuments.
I'm totally for BLM and renaming military bases that are named after *confederate* generals, as they are basically traitors to the USA. But, I don't think we need to rename *everything* named after people in this country's history who owned slaves. Lots of people owned slaves; it was the norm during that time. |
I’m in. |
But in all seriousness, this dude would allow keeping the MoCo name and honoring a non-slaveholder: Julius Montgomery, Who Broke a Space-Age Race Barrier, Dies at 90 In the Jim Crow South, he was the first black professional to be hired at Cape Canaveral, then made a sacrifice so that a technology school might open. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/21/us/julius-montgomery-dead.html |
