what boys names do you hear most at the playground/daycare/school?

I don't hear James that often. I know one in MD and one further away. I don't think it's a name where there will be several in a class.

Max is very popular. I also agree about Jack.

OP yet again! I couldn't agree more with these responses. I hear so many Jacks as well (great name, but there are SO many). I also hear Benjamin, William, Ethan and Henry so sounds like NOVA may be different from the rest of the state.

I live in Mo Co and we hear a lot of: Aiden, Jack, Henry, Jacob, Noah, Eli and Liam. If you pick a classic name and it is common, it shouldn't be as bad as a trendy name. Especially for boys.

Live in MoCo. Know three Jacobs, one Joshua, and several Josiahs (maybe that is the new trendy substitute for Joshua?).

I think that some of the classic names that have always been on the most popular list work better than the new ones. Yes there are tons of Jacks and Matthews but these names will sound dated in several years. Ethan, Aiden or Liam though are super popular now but may sound dated later on.

If your goal is to find one that you don't hear alot go back to your generation. Steve, Eric, Richard, David etc.

Agree with this except that Matthew is a peremmial classic (Biblical, etc.) and won't ever be dated, IMO. (And no, I don't have a child named Matthew. ) There are two Matthews in DS' class at school, but it is also a name from our generation as well.

Also, I am always surprised that David isn't more popular these days. Great name: Biblical and classic, with Dave as a nice nickname option. Yet you never hear of little Davids anymore. Odd.

PP here--meant Matthew is a perennial classic. Typo in my previous post!

I wouldn't consider Matthew a name that will sound dated considering it dates back to the Bible. And while Jack on its own may be trendy, it is still a common nickname for John which also dates back to the Bible. Names that I think (hope) will sound dated in a few years are the more made up ones like Jayden, Braden, Kayden, etc.

Lots of Owens, Charlies, Jacks, Henrys, and Aidan/Caden/Jaden/Hayden. I know two James, but they're 4 and 5 years old.

I hear Will, Gavin, Nathan, Jack, Hayden and Charlie a lot around us.

I'm so irked that Liam is trendy! I have one. His father is a William, and I love Liam Neesan. We have a nice solid Irish last name, so I thought it worked beautifully. Damn that Tori Spelling for naming her son a month after mine!!!! Now I know two others. Ahh, c'est la vie.

Yep, Charlie is the winner for us...although we do know a lot of Jacobs, too.

I have a Jack too but it's a nickname. His official first name is John. Jack is such a solid name!
